Update 4 will feature the Fracture system where some dinos will have attacks that result in skeletal damage. If the legs are fractured it’ll slow the target down a bit, if the body’s fractured it’ll cause some damage to them each time they try to attack and if the head is fractured it’ll blur their vision for a moment.
We don’t know too much about Diets, but each dino will require nutrition to both grow faster and remain strong. If you do not maintain your diet you will grow slower and your stats will weaken. We’ll likely be seeing some AI introduced this update as carnivores will have “preferred prey” types, though we’ll also see alternatives to this in small life forms such as frogs, turtles and crabs.
On a final note for Update 4 the new level design artist will be releasing some amazing island changes that are certainly worth noting. From the in-game alterations that have been shown on the discord he certainly knows how to bring a sense of natural beauty to what’s intended to eventually become a horror survival game. If you don’t like the sight of blood you should know that one of the future updates will focus on gore and decay, making death in the game a more visceral experience.

I especially like the video below as it highlights the process of making reactionary plants that move and sway based on force of impact triggered by the hitzones of the dino touching them.

Reason?
devs lie on a hardcore lvl.
they promised that AFTER Evrima was released, they would pump out 2x update + 1 dino / month..
sometimes it goes up to 6 months without a update. and even when they update, they add sh*t no one likes or NEEDS.
Like the last one. who cares about super high detail on a friggen toalett seat? in a place NO ONE has acess to..
diets will need a LOT of balancing. We'll get this next update in a few weeks and they are trying really hard to keep it playable, but so much can go wrong when 100+ ppl push it's limits and possibilities and you know everyone is gonna be really vocal and critical of wrinkles in the mechanic.
This diet update is not a typical add a mechanic animation, dino, damage tweak sort of thing. Game Changer. it's on the order of about 25 variables to juggle to get even half close to balanced play. They really have too lofty of goals imho. I wouldnta thought we'd have anything like diet requirements. too much stuff to code, but then TI wants to be THE dinosaur game, unlike any of the others.
they bit off a huge bite with this one, and they probably won't try anything this impactful again. it took too long but they were committed on it long ago
