The Isle

The Isle

SUGGESTION: Make "graze" a toggle, not a hold button.
straight to the point, I suggest a little change that would make grazing longer and less boring as you can just tap E and start grazing for a long time as herbivores do in real life to fill your food while not holding it for too much time to the point your finger start hurting. Food fills slow with grass, so make it a toggle so players will actually graze for longer time instead of just glitching temselves using the "bump glitch" to fill faster.

...meh. I don't see why not, not exactly the most exciting mechanic in game.

I don't... Think you know what a toggle is.

I wouldn't mind there being a toggle for grazing, but more importantly I'd really like to see the camera movement be severely reduced while eating or drinking. Make it so you have to look generally downward to do it, so you can more easily be surprised. Would add tension too.

Toggle seems like it would make it easier to afk. Let's not

You're not wrong...but it's grazing. Is it really necessary to be so focused.

I'd even say-sense you can only graze out in the open field-that it opens players up to being easily punished if they afk. Definitely needs the head following camera motion so you can tell when someone isn't paying attention, but it would really be a self correcting problem.

I have this same idea and genuinely approve it. Camera movement should have limitations when eating or drinking, and even automatically zooming in a little, to give you the feeling of distraction, what also directly affects immersion on the game.

How's about this, you can look anywhere you like, but, your camera will slowly return to focusing back at what you're eating if you're not doing anything.

Would rather go with Sparks option as yours sounds like what we already have, but with the pointless "return to position" addition. The point of Sparks proposal is that, when our dino are in a position they cannot see in 360 (head lowering to water / grazing or lowering into carcass) that our camera vision is limited while these actions are taking place. It makes sense that we shouldn't have awareness of our surroundings and have to look up to get a better view of our surroundings.

This would greatly impact carno hunting as the stalker would have a clear indicator when the targets camera view will be limited if they are patient and waiting for the perfect time to strike. You could even make the camera cast a "fog of war" when eating/drinking or blackscreen most around them.

I know what the point was, I just didn't care for it to be that absolute. A fog of war/black screen is a bit much this kind of game, at best, a blurry vision would fit.

Besides that, I'm only really concerned about the grazing being a toggle and how this can be open for afk-ing. My opinion on bush/corpse feeding is slightly different.

As far as the toggle goes, I'm against it. Grazing, drinking and eating from a bush/corpse should all be a held-down actions. You're right in that making any of these actions a toggle ability could lead to AFKing. Leaving them as held-down actions would mesh well with Sparks proposal in that the "fog of war" or whatever they use to greatly limit vision would toggle on whenever the action is used and off the moment the button is no longer being held-down.

Going AFK while grazing in the middle of a field is a risk up to the player, just as "lay down" (H) is for now. However we can not eliminate the fact that herbivores have to graze for long periods and holding down E key for that time is tiring. I also approve the idea of fog or blur, and agree that eating and drinking may stay as a hold button as they are usually shorter and we should have more control over it.

Also, if the player graze for too long it will vomit, instantly causing him debuffs as a punishment for not watching, and being vulnerable to any player near by is, aswell.

How else are they going to give carnivores a sporting chance at killing the herbivores? xD

Or to ambush other preds or simply to jumpscare them. Lil' Dryo getting a drink did not notice the rex stealthed in the bushes that walks behind the Dryo and roars. :steammocking:

I like the sound of the camera view giving limited view when eating/drinking.

It makes sense as well seeing as how our critters are focused on eating and drinking. They can stop and look around to make sure they are still safe (IE: We stop eating/drinking.), but the moment they go back in for another drink or bite their vision is limited again.
