The Isle

The Isle

Slow development
So I remember playing back in 2017 and back then there was talk of flying dinos and humans coming the next 1-3 months. Now I've returned and neither is still playable. I know there's a huge update coming but whats the holdup? Also will we ever be able to play hypos because they are looking so savage. Wouldn't an easy fix be just to nerf them? like make a hypo rex have the strength of 1.5-2.0 normal rexes?

They are targeting June 14th-20th for the release of the new update after about a year of development. This update is essentially a completely new game.

Once this update is out, new updates will also be coming out a lot faster, which means the devs will be able to develop the rest of the planned features in a timely and more polished fashion. So "slow development" won't be so for long.

We will also be able to see what they're actually working on through development streams, developer blogs and even a roadmap that will show us what is going on behind the scenes while we wait for new updates.

So, while it may not be "soon", we know that we are going to get humans, tribals and even strains eventually; and they will be done properly, without being rushed or bugged/broken.

Though keep in mind, from what i've heard the "completely new game" will start with only 2 dinos

Correct.

Why only 2 dinosaurs? What will happen to all those already there?

The two are Utah and Tenontosaurus. These two are the most feature complete / ready to play dinos. The remaining roster will be added in gradually.

Because those 2(that MegaDave mentioned) are the foundation that will allow the rest to be added waaay more seamlessly than in the past. Like a new pair every 2 weeks fast. Once after they take their well deserved break of course.
Not new pair every 2 weeks no not at all, one dinosaur every 2-4 weeks.
I actually have no problem with this rate because you need to understand that each dinosaur that we will get will be feature complete like tenonto and utah which means it would have some cool ability or attack so I'm completely fine with that, plus its not as if we would only get a dino every 2-4 weeks we will also get cool new additions to the game along with the dino at times.

2-4 weeks is basically half a month up to a full entire month..you honestly expect a new dino per month? from these devs? it's great talk and i'd be happy if so, but realistically and looking at track records i would predict an irregular update schedule with at least a month or three between.

edit: two weeks per dino lol, i mean c'mon folks, the isle?

2-4 weeks per dinosaur is the estimate one of the devs gave, and the reasoning for why it will actually be faster than in the past is because with they recode they implemented a system that makes it way easier for the to implement dinosaurs into the game, biggest hang up will probably be animating, modeling and texturing and not the programming, and since we know they've been working on dino models and animations since the start of the recode and just stockpiling them that shouldn't be such a big problem either in terms of time but I do think that it will probably more likely take a month than 2 weeks.

The Development of this game has been God awful and slow. For someone who has had the game sense 2016 and the game itself has been in beta for 5 YEARS now, its disappointing that the team has done very little in the time span and only recently put work into "high gear" in their terms. They have been constantly pushing back the recode release date, which is not startling in the least knowing how slow the dev team has been for the longest time.

As far as I can remember, the Dev's were not the best people anyway- the might of improved but a lot of them used to have a nasty attitude.

This is the first time they gave us an actual date. They couldn't have pushed the recode back if it never had a release date

From what I understand, with the recoding (when it comes out in June) it's like they started from scratch with the game, correct?

So I wonder how many more years will it be in early access before I see it finished?

I am very excited about this game, but it is as if it came out again from the beginning, despite having already been in early access for 5 years xD

Incorrect.
They gave us a release date around February this year, and a few times the year before that, there were even rumors about the recode sense 2018.

I'm not super involved with the community these days because I'd rather waste my time doing something else, but there have definitely been pushbacks. It also should not take 5 years to get your game out of development or at least make a decent ammount of progress. The recode is basically throwing everything out and making an entirely new game, I cannot imagine how long it will take to actually get the game out of beta before Steam shuts it down...

This game had potential. I used to enjoy it a ton, but it's hard to be patient with a game like this.

The february release date was the cause of speculation, they even literally stated on the discord that they didn't aim for that at all. That was a community error. So before you go around stating facts as ''incorrect'' without any facts backing up your incorrect statement, please do some research on your own before you claim something to be incorrect, when it has in fact not been incorrect.

https://gyazo.com/a21386e74e0e92fa6dac8c4605aed562

As you can see, they even made a statement about it.

As you said, they were rumors. Rumors aren't official, they never gave us a release date. It's literally that simple. It's actually people like you that quote incorrect information and then somehow assume them to be factual, when it's not. Please stop this.

They never specified any date or ETA, at all. They did this very intentionally yet people find reason to blame them for release date they themselves never gave.

The February release date was literally a really drunk developer answering a chat question about what's his best guess for the release of evrima, it wasn't officially announced and it was never talked about again by anyone on the team.

Same with that pounce-thing that utahraptors were supposed to get. They still don't have it. I don't understand why they don't fully finish a dinosaur before moving onto another. There's Theris, Spinos, Austros, Stegos, and more that need to be requested, rather than that they're added to the usual survival game. I don't get that. And the game needs a rebalance. Nerf the theris, change some of the speeds of dinos. Make the game itself a bit better before adding new things to it.
