I think the large crests are a neat thing and makes it more interesting that its not the same thing as the usual image of Allosaurus that you usually think about. And at least those spikes are toned down from what it originally was.
It looks nothing like ARK just because it has those enlarged decorations. ARK literally ♥♥♥♥♥ up the proportions of dinosaurs.
I personally prefer the old one more, but right now I am getting used to the new one... So, it doesn't bug me much.
Skins will come later... Oddly enough, when Allo first came in, it came with 2 skins as well. One green and one brown.
The design strikes me as 'childish' and 'edgy', very out of place in the Isle.
I made a small edit to a profile image of it (I've posted this before in another discussion) and I believe it addresses a number of issues: http://imgur.com/63RHaGU
I could actually agree with this, the vertical shape of them is a little strange to the eye.
But yeah, no one should be complaining about the crests being inaccurate, they are more accurate than the old model's were.
I haven't noticed a particular boxiness with the new model, though it is a little more built, which is intended. It's possible though that some concessions were made in selective areas of the model to reduce the workload on the player's computer. Reducing the poly count is a method of optimization. For instance if you look at how models are handled on some older games, they put the maximum amount of detail possible where the players are most likely to look - head, torso, hands, etc. But detail is lost as you look below the waist, with less work put into, say, the wrinkles and folds of someone's pants. You might even see some jagged edges.
That's done because no one typically notices it, and to put more work into it is largely a waste of time/money AND can put unneeded work on the machine that's running the game. That workload could be spent elsewhere, making it an efficiency thing.
the new allo don't have shrink wrapped muscle and fat less body with outsticking bones(like how herrera have it now,or the old allo)
(there are some today living animals illustrated with shrink wrapping effect: http://carnivoraforum.com/topic/10161906/1/)
the spikes on the back..... they really annoy me and because it really looks like one model from the ark
The Ark Allo model is disgusting in comparison to this O.o.
They mean it looks cartoonish, the style of the crests and spikes looks like something you would see in ARK. They're not literally saying that they look the same.
I actually like how it looks to be honest. I mean yeah... i liked the old one but i think the new one looks more alive.. I dunno
