Good [Gaming] Laptop for The Isle?
Sooo this game works on my PC, but this is not a gaming PC. It's a fairly new and modern PC that can handle certain games, but the FPS is fairly low, as I understand this is not built for games such as these..

However, I am considering saving up for a laptop (not PC/desktop computer) that would allow the FPS to flow nicely. Basically a gaming laptop with great graphics and stuff like that. I'd prefer to stay around or under $1,000.. I personally feel like over $1,000 is a little too much.. but it depends.

So, I've heard about Alienware mostly, but it is not as good since Dell bought it??
I'm not too strong in the whole gaming field, so any help or links could be very helpful.

Thanks!!

I have an asus laptop-- Forgot the exact model, but it was 1.4k and worth every penny imo. The isle, as well as many other games (fallout 4, skyrim, overwatch) run smoothly. i7, 16 gb RAM, 1tb hdd + 237 ssd, nvidia gtx 1070 ti, win10. I can run the isle on cinematic without issue unless there are a more bodies than there are max players, in which case it starts to chug a bit, however it's certainly still playable.

The only issues I have with my laptop are non-performance related; the touchpad (which I don't use anyway) is poking above the casing on one side and its edges are sharp, so I put some tape over it (I've heard sending laptops back for minor issues like that isn't worth it), and the screen needed some major color adjustments because everything had a yellowish tint until I recalibrated the display. Those minor issues aside though, I recommend getting something similar.

Why a laptop? Even a good one will have issues with overheating. Generally, they're not really built for games. You might find a rare exception but they tend to be needlessly expensive.

Gaming laptop with "great" graphics, and gameplay, and not having an overheating problem is going to run you $3000+ probably. Laptops are not designed for games and that's a failing of the need to make the components small which limits what they can do and even gaming ones are crippled by that fact.

$1000 dollars however would get you the parts for a pretty decent desktop if you build it yourself. Trust me it's not even remotely hard.

Maybe. Not well, but it will probably run. That processor speed is really really low though. It's required to have 3.5 GHz I believe

Highly recommend building a tower instead of a laptop. I honestly hate laptops for gaming; even those made for it. They go out of date far too quickly for a ridiculous price tag.

New Egg is your best friend for parts; you can build a great rig for around 800 that will run most games at 60 frames, best part is if you want to upgrade it's as easy as removing the old part and putting in the new one. Just my opinion! Don't waste your money on overpriced Best Buy laptops.

I would hazard a no.

At least not in a good way. You'll have like 12 fps and a lot of lag.

Yeah, laptops are just bad for games, especially ones like this.

They are essentially more versatile consoles at least power wise.

I'm super confused by the general consensus that laptops are bad for games, run hot, etc. It's also a bit strange that people keep saying to get a desktop when the OP said they weren't going to get one. Building a desktop is definitely cheaper, but some people don't want/can't get them for personal reasons.

My processor speed is 2.8 but I haven't had a single issue running intensive games-- and as long as you have a proper cooling pad, there's no worry about it running hot. Even without a cooling pad it stays at pretty low temps, but I don't dare play without it just to be on the safe side.

By the words of the great dindo himself don't buy a laptop if you can buy a pc as a laptop no matter how good will struggle to run the game on release.

Why laptop if it doesn’t work on intel graphics? You’ll have to have better graphics my computer can’t run because of Dx12😭
