Origin of "babu" for baby?
It's like every time someone refers to baby it becomes "babu"
The only explanation I have is someone pressed 'u' instead of 'y' and it just stuck I guess, but
never heard it anywhere else so is it just an "isle" thing?

Eh, it's a 'saying words cutely' kind of thing. Nothing more, nothing less.

Well on the QWERTY keyboard, the letters u and y are right next to each other. So probably someone mistyped it at some point and it stuck.

Yeah, this would be my assumption too, and gaaaawd do I hate that trend of intentionally spelling something wrong to exaggerate something or whatever they are trying to do

Just thinking of examples like ‘’plix’’ and ‘’plox’’ being used intentionally make me pretty close to violent for some reason Oo

"The title babu, also spelled baboo, is used in South Asia as a sign of respect towards men. In some cultures, the term 'Babu' is a term of endearment for a loved one as well. "

There, mystery solved! lol

I see, I was initially curious because babu means "boy" in a south asian language (sort of equivalent to"son")
