herbi vs carno fun
soo I played for a few hours as herbi now, have not played carno yet but I just wanna ask if this game caters most to carno players? I mean logically its seems like it but why should anyone play herbi then? to be some cattle being farmed over and over?

The only reasons people play herbivore over carnivores ( I'm assuming you meant that rather than CARNOtaurus the animal) is due to the easier time surviving and most herbivore species are friendly towards each other.

I see a lot of people saying herbs are easier to survive, but I don't think so. Most carnivores are designed for solo play, having a pack is just for taking down much larger prey. All herbs mostly rely on herds, but on the official servers almost no one plays them. Carnivore packs are pretty common.

All carnivores have the ability to crouch to hide a little better, and a ambush mechanic(short speed increase; except for Carno) only a few herbs can crouch, but no speed increase.
Bleed damage is deadly in this game, and a lot of herbs deal no bleed damage. A carnivore just has to bite you then harass you as the bleed does damage.

Carnivores are obviously fun to play solo or with a pack, but I find herbs more fun if you are able to find some others to herd up with.

It's not "Harder" to survive as a carnivore, it just takes a lot more patience. Use sound to hunt your prey when you don't have a visual of any animals around you. I usually play Dilo, and I seldom have a bad experience when on a good unofficial server

I completely agree with you about sound, and I'd argue that it's even more useful than sight sometimes. I was once an Allosaurus hunting at night, and was able to kill and eat an entire pack of Dilophosaurus over the course of about five minutes. This was despite the fact that the dilos could see 10 times farther than I could with their night vision. So how did I catch them? Because they kept spam-calling nonstop, arrogantly thinking that my lack of vision would somehow prevent me from finding them. Unfortunately for them, this game has really good directional sound, and I play with headphones, so they were basically giving me free sonar.

Yeah, sound hunting is REALLY effective at night... THAT I can strongly agree to. And even during the day it has it's uses. In fact, 85% of my kills during a hunt I found by listening rather than searching. Now if only scenting worked better then smell would be a good option as well.
