The Isle

The Isle

What will humans role be?
I don't have much info myself on them. Just that there will be two (three, with cannibals?) faction types. There's the scattered human buildings on the map, but other than that, I know little. What will they be doing? Any ideas to their purpose? Just something to use to reenact Jurassic Park?

I think humans could serve as advanced pest control or very useful hunting partners, high powered weaponry would enable them to slaughter anything short of a hypo. Being omnivorous humans would not NEED to hunt for survival making them much less of a threat to herbivores unless people go round attacking unprovoked for the lolz. Having a human with an assault rifle in your herd/pack would provide a defence mechanism against larger predators and/or the ability to reduce risk when taking on difficult prey items (murder turkeys for instance). We shall see when they come back i for one are looking forward to seeing humans back in the isle, it'll bring a whole new layer of complexity to the game work against them for a challenge or team up to have a potential survival advantage.

I feel that Humans would likely play more of the "Invasive Species" role of the game. Think of it this way, people think this game works well as a dinosaur sim, an inaccurate dino sim but a good one. You have Small herbs, to browse the underbrush along with a few medium herbs. The Bigger herbs taking up the grasslands and outskirts. The Sauropods (which may just be playable after all) eating the trees. And a whole slew of different carnivores to keep the numbers of all of them in check, as well as those of each other. But humans, aren't part of that ecosystem. Granted Natives are going to be a thing, but is a spear really going to be THAT effective against a charging allosaurus? Humans I feel are just, there, for reasons that are not really even known. They'll compete for food with the smaller dinosaurs but will probably be seen as an easy snack for the bigger carnivores.

I agree with most of what you're saying here, however a spear IS a major threat to large animals, primative humans were able to take down creatures similar in size to large theropods with primative stone tipped spears, it'll take a LOT of spears but it is possible. A lone human is screwed but a bunch of them is not to be messed with. The mercenaries can and will f*ck over cocky apexes with firearms, if you don't die outright to a gunshot wound expect to bleed out within a few minutes guns are no joke, even a measley 9mm pistol can still screw your day up. Personally i'll play mainly mercenaries, run around get chased down by carnivores and mabye kick some predator ass when i get my hands on a rifle.

That is True. A lot of Spears would make any dinosaur have a really bad day, but what about the strains? Or heck even some apexes? I see them being as effective, but don't get your hopes up if that T-rex has friends with him. Mercs, well I guess that depends on what kind of guns we are talking about, as some would do a better job than others.

Now the real question is, where do CANNIBALS fit in? As far as we know they don't seem to have the intelligence to use weapons or tools, So I don't think the'll be posing much of a threat to the dinosaurs IF they are big enough. If anything They'll likely just be a human threat, but possibly a potential meal for carnivores

Cannibals will be a free meal for larger predators lacking ranged weaponry to tell em to GTFO. However they'll most likely play as pure nightmare fuel for humans, cannibals will force mercs and tribals out of forests and into open areas to avoid ambush, straight into the sight of larger predators. Cannibals will get pwned HARD if they get spotted lacking any ranged weapons you just run away and hurl a spear or pop a cap in its a**. Overall human gameplay is going to be very interesting with tribals being able to craft and build with mercs possibly having similar abilities. Cannibals may look scary but if you spot em from afar they're completely f*cked, frail human like body + spear or bullet = death.

Cannibals are tribals, you all haven't kept up with the lore.

I thought there were going to be "primitive humans" and cannibals.

I'm like 99% sure that Dondi said that the Cannibals (I'm referring to the tribals here, who are now called "Cannibals." The other guy who used to be called the Cannibal and will climb walls, eat faces as well as all of that fun stuff is naturally perceived as tough and thus doesn't really warrant discussion for "Why" he exists.) were going to be really tough. Something along the lines of "One could kill a hundred men" sort of strength. Don't quote me on that, they could've changed the plan by now... especially considering the game's track record.

Though, if it is still true... if one could kill a hundred men with relative ease, then what really stops that thing from literally wrestling down and killing a dinosaur? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. If a single Cannibal could, indeed take down 100 men like Dondi said a few months ago... well let's just say if something like that gets its hands on a good melee weapon nobody would have a good day.

Let's not forget that it has been mentioned in the past that the Cannibals will be able to be reborn and become something even more fierce. These guys may be primitive, but they are by far no joke and most certainly not going to be an easy snack.

ohhh so the tribals. The "cavemen" sorta things are actually cannibals as well. And the "cannibal" is that raptor/human/bat monster thing?

Sort of? If by "cannibal" you mean this guy:
https://twitter.com/AEOlympusTransm/status/1017235117528371200

then yes. It hasn't exactly been confirmed if the fake cannibals will cannibalize each-other. However, on the other hand it has been hinted at that the "tribal cannibals" will cannibalize each-other because of what Dondi said in the last big QnA stream.

Yeah "cannibal" in quotation marks referred to the albino looking ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that can run down Utahraptors.

But the tribals are gonna be cannibalistic, that's cool.
