AMD video cards and The Isle
Not sure where to post this, feel free to move in the appropriate section.

I've got to upgrade my graphics card since I'm running out of VRAM in this game. I have my eyes on a RX570/580, though I was told driver support for AMD cards can be a little lacklustre, especially when it comes to Indie games. Anyone running the game on one of these cards? How's your experience? I've never owned a AMD card, hence the stupid question.

Thanks in advance

I use an RX480 8GB of VRAM, and I'll say the game runs fine. I do have issues with Thenyaw but those are moreso issues with Windows or someshit. Normally my card runs everything at a smooth 60fps with high/medium settings but my computer glitched recently and the software to run it doesnt want to launch... pain in the ass lol.
The software, Wattman, is pretty damn good and allows you to do a lot for specific games, depending on what performance you want out of them

Alrighty. One more question. How's the rest of your system looking? more specifically, is the card very power hungry and did you need to buy a particularly juicy PSU? I'm unsure about my power supply delivering enough juices to power an AMD card along with my FX8320. I got a not too shabby 480W 80+Gold PSU. I'm fairly confident it would work. I'm not overclocking a whole lot. but I'm not 100% sure.

Jesus, power supply isnt ever an issue with AMD thats for sure. AMD consume ridiculously low amounts of power for their calliber, at least from my experience. There isn't an AMD that can go toe-to-toe with the best Nvidia cards in terms of performance, but they are very efficient and can last a long time, and are also incredibly high bang for whatever buck you want to pay, whereas the latest Nvidia will always be priced substantially more than the model's value in performance.

My computer was really expensive back in 2012, it still hauls ass, but the AMD I got more recently needed less power than the old, substantially weaker AMD that came with it. My PC's power supply is erm, rather pathetic compared to new rigs. I just bought it, popped out the old one and said hello to the RX 480.

Well, i have a RX570 wit 4 GB VRam, and having the "out of vram memory". The game runs ok at start, even on Epic graphics, but after a while the memory get's full and crash

I haven't used an AMD card in a long while, but I do frequently see, "this game is crap" "poorly optimized" "constantly crashing" etc on game forums.

The core similarities? AMD card. More studios reach out to and work with nvidia. Not saying don't get it, just do your research and go over your system to make it all play nice together.

So, i was wondering, do you huys think that these game booster programs can help with this "out of vram" problem? i know they help with the cpu Ram, but don't know about the video one. Sometimes is frustrating

Someone said that thenyaw has problems with windows - not true, I never have an FPS drop below 60, but I'm on nvidia. I know it's not the point but I wanted to avoid misinformation. But my boyfriend could play it just fine on his amd card, if that helps

???

It's not frames. It's a memory leak that happens, or whatever, which causes atleast my version of windows pro to say 'nah ♥♥♥♥ you Isle, you're hogging too much memory'.

me too. i use vega56 and sometimes i get a message said that my vram is full when playing at epic setting. so i use HBCC to add more vram from my system ram. LOL
