When will we see the spinosaurus in survival mode?
I see that the development branch is concentrating on many things, but nobody talks about the spinosaur. Does anyone have news?

For fishers so far we have models and anims for sucho.
As it goes for spino, not yet, or at all, devs have massive problems implementing apexes without destroying balance.

Yeah they might as well throw in the spino while there are still balance issues rather than fix them, break them with spino, then fix them again
(Not condidering the fact the spino probably isnt developed yet)

Are they even still working on fish anymore? That was originally slated to be done AGES ago not long after the time Spino originally released.

I still don't get the point in having worked on fish eater dinosaurs and even putting them into the game when their main food source still isn't in. The hell is Bary supposed to even do at this point? :steamfacepalm: thats like if they put in the Rex before having put in the ability to eat.

They were working on fish animations just last week.
Just like they were working on fish animations guess when, about 2/3 years ago.
I still don't believe fishing mechanic will be out soon or ever, poor spino line.
Like it's not poor already.

Yeah lol, just as a frame of reference I saw fish being worked on stream the first time they were shown off, Dondi messing around with assets they'd just gotten, before I got clapped by Deathlyrage from the official server back in, January 2017 or so? So that shows how long fish have been worked on...

I'd love to see Spinosaurus, even without fish as a ressource. Perhaps it would be able to scent during rain in a very fast animations, whereas outside of rain its a long and meh scenting?

For now I'd give that poor sucho (and maybe somewhere in the future spino) speed buff in water and maybe near it, buff to heal bleed in water, and nerf stamina drop while swimming. Altrough such things would be useful only near such deep water pools as great lake. And ofc would result in every water source being held by fishers that would kill anything getting close.

I believe that spinosaur is able to survive without fish. Of course, with fish it would be more realistic.

It's like grizzly bear - looks tuff and dangerous but in reality all it could hunt was small, defendless or hurt/old things. It's primary food were fishes simply because it couldn't chase down anything with it's build, probably slower than rex.
So no, spinosaur without fishes is dead spinosaur.

A grizzly bear is a terrible analogue. Let's see here: it only seasonally eats fish? It hunts down Elk and Moose? Can run faster than a dog?

Even if what you are saying is rather accurate about how spinosaurus was ill-suited as a hypercarnivore. But The Isle isn't aiming for realism; their Spino is intended to 50/50 a T.rex

Well no, grizzly bears don't hunt at all if they don't have to, and even if they do, they find it better to turn omnivore, and let's look at spino, I guess it couldn't do that.

Then if isle is not aiming for realism why would it need fishes in the first place? Let's just turn all fishers into casual rexes/allos/dilos depending on their size counterpartners and roll with it.
Well, what am I even talking about, it's probably how it will end in 90%.

This. I remember they were "working on fish" back when Sucho was first released. And it's been ages since then, and now we have 2 more piscivores added without the proper food source.

I get that different people work on different things, and they likely were able to get those dinos done before fish were done...but for an EA game it doesn't look good when they start to jump the gun a bit like that. Especially when EA games are so scandalous these days.

consdering they have had to recode the game from the ground up it's understandable.
