Is it just me or do the animal calls travel too far?

We just have to wait until people get it through their thick skulls, that constantly calling brings predators in to kill them.

Dondi has talked about making it so that, having large amounts of players spam roaring on a server would make Hyperendocrine AI begin to spawn on the map.

Lions can be heard miles away. With even larger lungs, you gonna be hearin' dinos even further out.

This is a question of gameplay not realism.

Dinosaurs would not be able to roar in real life.

Why? Anyways, just because something doesn't fit the technical definition of what a roar is, has no bearing on whether or not it will be able to be heard at long distances. Case in point: Bird songs. Birds also being the closest living relatives of dinosaurs.

Oh. I still see no problem personally. If you don't want to be heard, don't call unnecessarily, esspecially broadcasts.

It will make more sense when you realize the size of the future maps.

I walked for over 10 minutes and the sounds of the dinosaur sounded just as far.

yeah ever since they switched the engine or something sounds travel much further which sucks on region2. you can hear calls literally across the map. judging distance has become very difficult and you give away your position much easier now by calling.

well first you shouldnt call all the time second the way the sound is right now is ment to be used on bigger maps and that why the new map will be bigger than v4 was

There are only three segments: close range, medium range, and long range, with the last one being what you hear the vast majority of the time. There might be something to give the calls a little more of a "gradient," but that's how I remember the system working, unless I missed something.

It doesn't matter how big the map is, hearing calls from that distance with that volume is still very annoying.
