Groups
Are there any plans to disable damage to other players in the same group? People are using it as a way to lure in a free meal. They add you to their group, play friendly for a bit and then attack you out of nowhere. Kind of annoying.

Only group up with people you trust. If you feel as though it doesn't feel right sometimes it's better to move on and leave the group. As for the no damage thing, this could be abused so much. Everyone runs in to attack at the sametime leaving the defender with no chance to even fight back. A single group could kill the server with ease if this was the case.

That could easily be fixed by limiting the size of groups. Besides, mega-herds and mega-packs already rule the servers.

Simple, don't accept random group invites from people you cant even see. I get this crap all the time, ill be wandering around an someone will be sending out mass invites, always decline them. Its annoying, an if your a carnivore, a very high chance that its someone actually trying to find a easy meal.

I wouldn't mind reduced damage from friendly fire, but just outright removing damage when in a group is game breaking

Wouldn't this just end up in a huge group bumrushing everything and spamming their attacks without worry?

Also the backstab thing might be a feature. Kind of limits group size especially as right now trust is the only thing somewhat holding back mega groups from growing even more.

Personally I also think having to worry about hitting your allies improves the combat. Most games with reduced or removed friendly fire feature rather spammy and ridiculous fighting. I am glad for every single one that doesn't jump that "easymode placebo teamplay" bandwagon.

It really wouldn't. People would just stack on top of each other and swarm a single target. You might get one attack off before the damage becomes overwhelming.

That's a fair point, maybe reduced damage would balance things out a bit better. Having group players being able to damage eachother does play a crucial part in how groups hunt and kill things. I guess I'll just avoid groups unless I'm sure I can trust them, but it's still a shame to see grouping mechanic used in the way it is right now. At least Utah packs don't seem to have this problem, Utah groups are often very welcoming and happy to have a huge pack of raptors made up of strangers.

I dont think that reduced damage is the way to go for groups, but perhaps being in a group could slightly decrease your growth time up to X amount of players, and after this threshold there isnt a further buff. Perhaps as a way to give incentive not to go over this threshold, being in a group too large could drain your hunger/thirst faster. Just a random idea that popped into my head, any thoughts?

I think the best way would be to wait until more of the balancing elements already planned are added in. The Requirements for nesting + longer egg spawn times will help in some way, and i'm sure Dondi has other plans to reduce mega packs. IIRC there also might be a feature where your dino starts turning albino if it kills and eats its own species regularly.

Sounds like they have some pretty cool ideas there to deal with cannibals and such, I'm satisfied they'll work things out now.
