Also that still doesn't deny that ceratosaurus was a stocky and bulky animal and was far from just allo's whipping boy.
Ceratosaurus is infact quite heavier built than allosaurus is (like an allo of the same length would probably be ♥♥♥♥♥♥ for example), however, ironically like how the cerato's dmg ingame is, it isn't that significant because the allosaurus is still larger.
As for the "big like t. rex" comment, it is shocking how wrong that is. Not to call one an idiot either, it's legit daunting, cause you'd figure the sizes between a 9m allosaurus and a 12m tyrannosaurus would make them somewhat comparable but they really aren't. While an allosaurus of that length would weigh like 1.5 tons, a tyrannosaurus of its standard length would weight like 8. The average tyrannosaurus is over 4 times larger than the average allosaurus, it's insane.
As for the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ point, this is a video game where realism is taken somewhat into consideration but not SCIENTIFIC ACCURACY, there is a key difference. So stop it.
No, Allo is just a little bit bigger then Cera. As an Utah (Thats what I call small) Ceras look like Giants. Cera and Allo size is Medium
The speed really hurts, otherwise I'd even take on a trike, but again it would take 2. I steered clear of apexes, unless I was in a group, and even then...If you can't out run them, you need to be able to go toe to toe, and 1 vs 1 won't go well for the certa. A pack is a wise choice, bc it's hard to solo as a certa. :P More oftenthan not, I'm outnumbered, or out gunned lol.
Fun fact: when the server has low population, have a well grown mid-range take down all those new apexes. It's common to level apexes on a low populated server! Most apexes are pretty easy prey most of the way up the growth ladder, so take advantage. ;)
Also, 7m and 1.5 tons was NOT the average size of C. dentisulcatus. That would be around 5.5-6m and ~1 ton.
Cera is my favorite dinosaur, but for some reason I never really wanted it to destroy an Allo ingame. I always wanted it to be able to defend itself efficiently against similar sized or smaller dinosaurs. And there is a difference between the two. Though Im not saying that it excels in that right now.
It is to my knowladge, though I might be wrong.
Cerato is indefensibly one of the worst dinosaurs in the game, even in groups it's complete utter garbage, an allo pair could probably kill a group of 8 of them or at least send them home with about 2 of them alive. As cerato, you are ALWAYS outgunned, almost every dinosaur does what it does but 10 times better, it can't hunt big game with a pathetic bite and bad speed, it can't chase down fast prey since everything lower tier than it can easily escape it. There is legit nothing of redeeming quality in the faintest hint in this animal.
Your fun fact is probably common knowledge, most juvenile animals have god awful stats and try to grow them on low pop servers.
Nobody mentioned this on the thread but this thing is so absurdly loud. In every possible respect. Your F call can be heard from Giga/Rex like distances, far worse than Allo and nowhere near the miraculous stealth that for some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ reason Suchos have (this actually makes Forest Sucho possibly the best stealth solo Dinosaur, it's really fun tbh).
Your trot can be heard from dozens of metres away and unlike say, Trex or Giga or Trike, who all gloriously benefit from the sound bugs... Your trots are like Dilo, even if your camera is turned away you can hear that ♥♥♥♥ clear as day... As if it couldn't get worse, your sprint sounds like an apex ambush for ♥♥♥♥'s sake: it's super loud and the pace of your foot steps really sounds like Gigas or Trexes when they charge their prey in ambush.
Furthermore, your very slow trot speed and good resting stamina regen means if you want to get anywhere decently fast, you are sprinting around, a lot, much like Pachies (some Allos managed to track my Pachy for over 2hrs due to how easy to follow they are despite their insane stamina regen and higher sprint speed).
This means you leave a very, very easy to track golden trail while also making everything nearby that cannot see your Ceras GTFO because they think someone just got deleted by a Giga and they don't want to be next.
The nail in Cerato's coffin as any sort of stealthy, reclusive animal hiding away in the forests (in the sense of literally every other dinosaur in the game being better than you at this except maybe Triceratops) is of course your absolutely pathetically useless ambush. 1.1 speed with the 2nd shortest ambush time, behind Trex... what in the flying ♥♥♥♥ is this? Not only does everything hear you, or track your footprints, therefore if someone you can potentially kill stays around they are either AFK or retarded, but good ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ luck catching ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ with your ambush. Hell even if you manage 1 bite on say a Gallimimus, Utahraptor, Pachycephalosaurus or Dilophosaurus, they not only survive but they comfortably ♥♥♥♥ off to heal the bleed because you deal a pitiful 8 base.
So should you manage to bite any of these quarries as a full adult, guess what, they escape and you are left w/o a meal and everything in the vicinity heard you clear as day. You suffer the same consequence as Trex: if you fail a hunt, you've failed the hunt... except worse bc you are even slower in ambush, don't deal Bone Break and yknow, are a pushover.
But besides that, what other things does Ceratosaurus struggle with? As if all of the above wasn't bad enough.
Well, as has been repeatedly mentioned and beaten to death as a topic, your horrible bleed resistance squarely puts you on the menu of faster animals, like Dilophosaurus and Carnotaurus. Carnotaurus and Dilophosaurus can handle wounds better than Wolverine for ♥♥♥♥'s sake. They laugh at bleed and raw damage, just healing that ♥♥♥♥ off with ease. So even if you manage to bite one of the ♥♥♥♥♥♥'s they've already managed to seal the deal unless they are braindead, or you can sit the ♥♥♥♥ down. One Dilo bite is enough to assure your demise. A single one. This is extremely bad because of how common they are, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ everywhere given they can kill the rest of the roster so well. At least the Carnos, who can not only delete you but take your hits, aren't as common and only found in one area of the map abundantly.
Being screwed over by Allosaurus is not nearly the worst of Ceratosaurus' problems either, everyone here keeps making it out to be but let's be real, a lot of the roster gets deleted by something, this is hardly unique to Ceratosaurus. Of course just reiterating, the Allosaurus outshines you in everything except sprinting turn and base sprint speed.
Aside from that, it's got not just a better ambush - one of the best in the game - ON AN ENDURANCE PREDATOR. Because yes, giving something an amazing ambush while also giving it absurd trot speed, trot stamina regen and stamina is a good idea / sarcasm.
It also, yknow, bleeds you out in 1 bite. Take into consideration, on the flipside, a Carnotaurus can walk off an Allosaurus bite. What a hilarious disparity eh? Hell the Carno can just sprint off to narnia, sit down, heal the bleed and leave. Your Cerato is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ doomed after 1 bite. What a difference from something only 50 odd kg lighter.
So you have an animal that can kill you one bite, outlasts you, does more damage, has more health, does more bleed, is heavier, has a better ambush. How in the flying ♥♥♥♥ does this make even the least bit of sense? NOTHING else has to deal with anything like this. Nada. Nothing gets ♥♥♥♥♥♥ down that bad.
There's one last thing nobody here mentioned. I bring up Carno a lot and quite frankly it's just better. If you want a scavenger, a small tier bully / hunter, something that can survive an allosaurus we have that dinosaur, and it grows faster while also just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ outclassing Cera. It is Carno. If you wanna play whatever in the ♥♥♥♥ Cerato was meant to be, just pick Carno. Same time to grow as a Dilo or Maia and it actually can ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hunt, scavenge and survive an Allosaurus attack AND OH YEAH, literally traded ambush for general speed - it's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ fast but can't ambush.
Rexedous, here's the part where you tell us what Cerato does well. Go on we're waiting. It better make up for all of that I listed above.
This leads into another important fact. You probably shouldn't screw around with other people that can kill you. Cerato sucks in that aspect, but if you play it right, you can take down any Juvie, and Sub adult. Adding numbers to your pack broadens the horizon. Yeah a pack of 5 Dilo's is dangerous. Didn't stop me and my bro from pushing them right off of their pile of corpses. We chased them off of the field, and into the forest, but kept clear of the forest. We knew they could likely kill us if we went in there. It's also a trade, cause shure I Dilo can kill us, but I'm pretty shure we can do likewise. Long story short, choose your prey wisely, and play smart.
Hunting aside, you can also sustain your self on AI if worse comes to worse. Heck, I used an AI Ava to lure in alot of prey. Packing up, like a Utah, gives you more options. The other thing to factor in is a tight turn radius does allow us to dart out of the way of larger predators, similar to a Galimimus.
General living aside, y'all are always in a rush to go places. I find just walking, taking in the surroundings, and keeping an ear out for trouble is really easy, often hearing Allos and Carnos, and just changing direction. It's not hard to avoid other predators, especially if you make use of your surroundings. Thick forests are your friend, and allow you to often avoid enemies. My bro. Dodged several Rexes this way. Just passed by, totally unaware.
Ultimately, do I deny the Cerato has serious flaws? No, not at all. It could definitely use some TLC. HOWEVER, is the the piece of garbage you make it out to be? Nope. It survives perfectly well, and can sustain itself fine on intended prey.
