During rain, sight and sound is how you find food.
The bushes are easy to recognize. If it's dark, you can use sound, as food bushes are the only plants to make a rustling sound when something moves through them.
If it's raining, and dark out, your best bet would be to log. Log back in during the day cycle. I've lost a few herbies trying to power through rain/night combos and ended up starving.
That said night + rain can make them very difficult to find. I advise that you find the bushes prior to nightfall and stay close to them, or eat as much as you can before dark.
There are certain bushes that look similar, but there’s a few key differences—edible bushes have berries, their leaves are large and similar to grape leaves is shape, and the branches are a lighter shade.
They also render in much further out than normal foliage, the to me it seems like the shadows render in differently forthem as well, but that could depend on your settings.
