Giga Is Too Fast
Am I right, or am I right?

Currently the giga is fast enough to catch utahraptors and allos by using crouch sprint and can out walk practically any other dinosaur in The Isle.

Giganotosaurus was a large carnivore bigger than t-rex, and a giga's main source of food was huge slow moving sauropods. Also, the giga didn't usually kill it's sauropod prey instead it just took bite sized chunks of meat off the huge herbivores.

I believe in-game the giga is currently faster than the rex and can walk faster than some other dinosaurs can run. The giga's stride alone let's it move at very fast pace. If the stride of the giga is making it much faster than the other smaller dinosaurs then I think the smaller dinos should receive realistic speed changes according to their body sizes. Giga was not an olympic sprinter or runner, and so the giga should have it's speed greatly reduced or other dinosaurs should receive a speed increase.

As far as speeds go, I think it would be best to make all the other dinosaurs faster than the giga because no one wants to play a slow dinosaur. Also, many herbivores are already painfully slow when they walk and have heavy stamina drain with slow regain, so it would be best to make them faster and more enjoyable to play.

Giga is actually slower than rex... That make it the slowest survival carnivore currently, but it retains much longer stamina and can regen it while trotting, plus the trot speed that nearly as fast as trike’s run speed, making one of the most mobile large carnivores that can easily chase down prey over long distance without breaking a sweat. Sucho and Diablo are ones that suffer the most. (Diablo still has a chance if it can break the sight, sitting down and gain alot of stam before running off again though, while Sucho is doomed no matter what it does.)

It is a bit ridiculous? I think yes, but it’s pretty much its signature feature currently, so I say we nerf its other department like its god tier alt-turn and buff Sucho’s mobility instead. Other dinos are fine as long as they can keep the Giga at bay.

its turn radius ain't even the main issue here and i actually think it should be the last thing that should be nerfed, because even as much as 10 utahraptors or such taking down a 6/7 ton monster like this is just ridiculous.

to compare it, it is pretty much like you as a 1.80m 80kg person being taken down by a class of 2 year olds

i do how ever would like it if the giga only regained its stamina if it where walking or standing still, since like said, it is just to slow

Why did you revive this useless dead thread
Edit: Just realized this is a dead topic.

You don't actually move the speed it says you do, as a juvi, or adult, until you are the full grown version of both. Some dinosaurs will display the correct juvi speed at 100% juvi, while others do not. It does not refresh your speed as you grow at any stage.

For example, a utah won't do 43 until you've reached full grown adult. If you're only say 80 something % to full grown, you're speed might be 35-38? I don't know the formula for it, but that's why you got chased down, or maybe you weren't running in a straight enough line?

So, as a full grown utah, you have the option to engage or avoid apex at your discretion. The only difference between apex and trikes is that trikes don't get a speed buff with ambush to catch a player. Nor can they crouch. Those are hunters tools, and if apex don't use them, they can "only" fight players that either:

1) Blunder right into or into ambush range at night

2) Choose to engage you.

So smart apex use crouch and ambush correctly to catch prey in the day. You can also use your AI to bait players, as well. ;) Ava are good ones to use, as often juvis and other not quite full grown players will pursue the ava thinking "OH! that's better than small foods! Nom-nomers!" and it'll take a while. In this time, you can setup for a good ambush.

They're paying too much attention to that ava they shouldn't be hunting lol. If an ava doesn't drop quickly, hunt smaller prey. You kill, you eat, then you move on.

As an apex, or any dinosaur really, by just stalking an area of high traffic, and good cover, you can make your kills just fine. Know your food. In the meantime, eat your AI.
I know this post is old, but does the Giga still basically trot down most things and recoup stamina on the go? I thought it got a buff in damage...or at least bite rate. Supposedly besting a Rex in a pure face to face “bite off”...or has that changed again.

With Allo packs being a thing again, would a Giga be able to fend off 3-4 Allos now?

as far as i see the giga is still unchanged.

off the top of my head giga can only trot down 4 things. rex, trike, dibble and sucho

Bah...all things difficult to kill or difficult to find. I saw my first Sucho in months the other day. Dibbles are plentiful, but always cupcaking with Trikes...

Well considering sucho is so slow and is supposed to be an aquatic dino but has no aquatic traits its no wonder no one wants to play them. Dibble on the other hand can properly square up against an allo and anything below it.
I might try another Giga again. I like the idea of them, but don’t have the patience for the juvi and sub-adult stage. Mainly because the game lacks enough bio-diversity for such a choppy slug.

If we had toads and turtles to catch at water holes, better scavenging, nests to raid, etc, I’d be more willing to endure that little pug!
Thread is locked for necro posting.
