Turning up Gamma

Hello all, I'm just curious about peoples opinions on turning up your PCs Gamma during game play. I have come across people who use it and it certainly gives them an edge over someone who doesn't. is it frowned a pone/considered cheating or is it generally accepted?

People have been adjusting their gamma, or the brightness/contrast on their monitors since the dawn of multiplayer gaming. I just assume anyone could be doing it at any time.

Techically, it isn't allowed. But nobody can really confirm is somebody is exploiting or not without looking at their monitor. Either way, it is extremely frowned upon by the community.

Ok thanks, i was looking to maybe start using it, the server i play on does not say you cant and as said i have encountered those that use it. my intentions would be to simply have a better eye on my surroundings.

I know it's against the rules on my server. Then again, turning down foliage also gives people a hand up over those at higher settings. Can't actually prove it, though.

Gamma is just low level cheating, the real plague is pp software. dont know if the devs have any option to do something against that.

Not allowed, but hard to confirm. I've been accused of cranking up gamma due to the fact that I'm using an HD television for a monitor, meaning I can just generally see better despite the darkness.

I’m pretty sure turning up gamma past the limit is treated similar to using a shader, which is that it’s not allowed.
