You realize both of them have no problems surviving off AI? It'd either take an incredible stroke of misfortune, or brain-death on the part of a Giga or Rex to not survive off AI.
So what it boils down to, is giga is better at killing small dinos that don't even need to engage the Giga in the first place?
If the Rexes know how to pick targets, they'll win every time.
Rex can die to smaller animals but it is hard but much easier than a pack hunt against giga, which is untouchable to smaller animals, and smaller targets should fear giga overall, shaking a rex off your tail is easy, it has to rest and recover to gain stamina, giga does not get shaken off easily.
Rexes need to fight giga by SLAMMING into them, however with giga, bleed can make the fight turn the tables insanely well, couple rex's pretty meh turn speed and giga's agility, I can see it go pretty far south for the rex's, giga as a whole works better as a pack hunter due to the bleed and speed it has.
Giga also has a much higher DPS than rex due to bite speed, and giga also is pretty friendly fire resistant as it has some really good bleed regen and resist. Rex isn't due to BB.
Okay? If this is a survival tierlist, the packs of animals can kind've just move away, and not die, making it effectively a stalemate. If it's a combat tierlist, you have a point
You have that ass-backwards. Giga is so slow, just about anything other than a sucho can escape it easily. For a Rex, stamina is irrelevant if you can close the distance at stupid speed and bonebreak
Which results, invariably, in their target's death
When was the last time you played? That's super outdated info. Rex has way better DPS, and has both faster ambush and base sprint
Actually Giga can catch up to Allo and Diablo pretty easily. I know that to be pretty much fact. Even if it werent, it can still outpace a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Allo. With Diablo, if you cant find a good hiding spot to regain stam your done for, giga can just trot you down as it regains stam while you're sitting...
the thing is, both can survive off AI just fine. but how well they survive off AI isn't relevant, really, because unless you're the worst player in the world you could camp at some obscure lake nobody will ever search for you at and farm AI forever, and nobody would ever come across you. no, what determines how good something is, is how good its matchups are against others. and Giga is lacking in that regard. It's ambush isn't nearly as good as Tyranno, meaning it has to get a whole lot closer to be able to make that imperative first blow. Tyranno has it a lot more easy when hunting, it needs to get close but not nearly as close as a Giga would. One easy bite and its prey is done for.
Tyranno is, in fact, better at hunting smaller animals then Giga is. All it needs is for the prey to walk close enough and it has a free meal. Giga does not have that gift. Giga can hunt, but it's playing on hard while Tyrannos play on easy. I also definitely don't feel like you've used either Tyranno or Giga in a while, because you keep on saying it's fast enough to escape whatever might challenge it, which is obviously ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
No, a pack fight will always and invariably go in favor of the Tyrannos. Without exception. All the Tyrannos need is three bites and they control every aspect of the fight. Where it goes to, when it ends (either by themselves or the deaths of all 3 Gigas, which is inevitable). One Tyranno may die, but that's mostly the maximum number.
They can, but Tyranno has good crouch turn, so if the Tyranno knows how to Tyranno they'll use that. No matter how good the hunters are the fight will usually turn out in the Tyrannos favor.
The thing is with fearing Giga is yes, its true. You don't need to fear the Tyrannos you can see... You need to fear the Tyrannos you don't see. While a Giga could catch a smaller animal if it isn't shaken off the trail (which it very well might be) a Tyranno doesn't leave enough time to be shaken off, because you're probably too close to even start running away. Shaking a Tyranno off your tail is also not easy in the slightest. Giga, while having a better turn then a Tyranno does while running, isn't very good either. Your absolute only choice as a Giga facing a Tyranno is to fight, and you will lose.
Tyranno slams into opponents because, like Rot said, that will doubtlessly kill a Giga. Bleed means nothing when you can't keep enough distance to use it well, which you can't and never will be capable of as a Giga. And you keep on attempting to bring this up, and you're obviously missing the facts, so lets put special emphasis on this: Giga is SLOW. There is no argument you can put up for them being fast, because they are all unarguably wrong. Giga is a slow dinosaur. It has no speed. It has low agility, it just looks high because Tyranno exists
Firstly, no. Tyranno has the second highest DPS out of any survival animal, just behind Trike. Giga doesn't have a chance when trying to compete with one. It's also irrelevant how good Rex is against BB, because by the time they start friendly firing each other every Giga will most likely be BB'd too.
I'm not saying Giga is useless fully, but it undoubtedly is useless against a Tyranno. At the very highest, Giga gets a low A tier, because it has one bad matchup but that matchup is horrific and a Giga forced into said matchup will almost universally get stomped. Seriously, Tyranno takes, what, half an hour more to grow? If you're growing a Giga instead of a Tyranno, and not just for the meme... Why? Why would you do that?
Not with speed alone, just with its godly trot and stamina. Allo and Dibble are both faster then a Giga outright, but if the Giga can keep with them, it can easily trot them both down once stamina is exhausted.
If the giga pack gets the jump on them, then rexes are in trouble, rex only really has great bleed regen while resting. Giga can actually bleed rex out in 3 bites if it keeps them standing up.
Rexes need to catch a giga first which is easier said than done, if the gigas tire out the rexes which is very possible, then they've probably won.
Really the only way rexes can actually win is by camping out the gigas. At which the gigas are more than obligated to just leave and that's stalemate or bait them.
Rex isn't that hard to see, it's one of the biggest playable animals and most rex players I have seen done this very poorly.
Giga can evade rex since the trot speed of giga is super good and rex has quite the limited stamina.
Rex can only win by being campy and only in straightforward combat, if giga catches them by surprise, it's probably over for the rex due to their garbo turn albeit their pretty impressive croutch turn. The same can be said for rex ambushing giga just much easier.
Giga vs. Rex all depends on who sees who first and how fast the one being sneaked on responds.
no, no not really. a Tyranno will run you down once it knows you're there, turning speed will likely mean nothing because it takes a very good Giga to turn in time to dodge a Tyranno attack.
Tyranno wins with most battle stragedies. if the Tyranno wins its the Tyrannos own fault, a Gigas own skill will likely mean nothing in the fight because its very hard to be good with a broken leg, which will almost certainly happen. this is all assuming its a 1V1, of course. in a 1V2 in favor of the Gigas, the Gigas will win 10/10 times.
A good trot doesn't matter if the Rex can run down the Giga with ease.
I was willing to give you some leniancy, because there's always the possibility that you haven't played in awhile, and are simply using outdated information, but at this point you're spreading misinformation. Rex has better DPS than Giga, if Giga had better DPS it could win a facetank.
The only way a Giga is getting 3 bites on a half-decent rex is by kamikazing.
The only way a Giga is tiring out a rex is if the Rex is braindead. Between competent players, in Rex v Giga, the best the Giga can hope for is stalemate. Rexes, however, can very easily win.
I wasn't counting 2v1 since that's just stupid and pretty much a no brainer.
Although a BB state is definitely to be avoided, giga doesn't have that bad of a limp, still something you don't want to do or be in.
T.rex's ambush has a pretty bad turn radius, but say a rex makes a miscalculation and the giga escapes to a relatively safe distance, rex is vulnerable due to having limited stamina, this is why I feel like Giga is a lot better due to versatility in most situations, it can pretty much just crush any smaller animal and can escape the other apexes relatively easily, though that might just be me due to my natural over cautious nature.
Just the bite speed to damage ratio, giga wins by a mile. Rex takes nearly a second to go at with another bite.
Rex only has 500 more hp, last I checked.
Sure Rex is a godtier ambusher. And ambushing is without a doubt the most promising hunting strategy. But what if your ambush fails? What if there's suddenly not just those 3 Dilos you were after, but 10? If every one of them lands only 1 hit you're on 100 bleed. Where you think you're gonna go now?
Rex is build to fight and overwhelm quickly. It has weak ass defense in a long fight especially vs. multiple opponents because of its poor turn radius and being so prone to run out of stamina. It is absolute garbage at flight. It is just not an option.
And its not only Dilos. Call them Allos, or Carnos, hell even Dibbles or Trikes. If you're caught with your pants down by a large determined group of players, your lack of mobility means certain death. 2 Gigas spot a lone Rex in the distance? Sweet, time to logout. Because that's literally the only option on a clear day.
Meanwhile if a Giga's ambush fails, you're still at risk of getting outpaced in a long pursuit. It can use its exceptional trot and virtually unlimited stamina not just to close in on you in a pursuit but also to get out of any sticky situation, barring a short range Trex ambush. Other than that it just slaughters any number of non-apex players blindfolded given a godtier turn radius and attack speed. With a weight-dmg-bleed combo that in fact oneshots every non-apex. There's no difference to a leg crushing Trex bite.
Considering that, if it wasn't for Rex Giga would be untouchable. It has an absolutely vast selection of dinos on the menu, because nothing short of a Rex poses a threat to it, and it can catch up to almost anything with patience and dedication.
Trex has a lot of raw power and eats oblivious Gigas for breakfast. It's weaknesses come in if you just suck at being sneaky. If a surprise attack fails your meal is gone for good. Most importantly it stands in a difficult position vs. coordinated and determined groups of other players where it can be easily worn down. Lastly it doesn't scale nearly as well in pack hunts, where you're prone to immobilize your own teammates in only one accidental bite lol.
But no, nirf Rex, buff Giga! It shouldn't have any natural predators in the Isle. I think I've also read on the official discord that Giga was related to megalodon. So it should also be an aquatic predator and tussle with Deinosuchus and Spino if you ask me.
