argentinosaurus back on top
argentinosaurus, the og biggest dinosaur, dethroned by the likes of puertasaurus

or is it?

everyone remembers the newest mega titanosaur on the block, patagotitan mayorum, its said to be the biggest ever, this is however kind of weird

there is a bunch of boring phylogenetic stuff involved but tl;dr

patagotitan and argentinosaurus are eachothers closest relatives, their proportions are almost identical, but argentinosaurus' bones are 10-20% bigger than patagotitans

this means that when patagotitan is 33 meters argentinosaurus is around 38-40 meters, this might work out as a counterpart to puertasaurus

i really dont believe that any animal gets extra vertebrae as it matures
It happens. I'd give you the link but the article appears to have been deleted for some reason.

To answer the questions though:

1. No clue. I have heard of Breviparopus (like the Broome Titanosaur, it's based on footprints, but Brachiosaurs have more well-understood feet), it is thought to be one of the (if not the) tallest dinosaurs.

2. Apatosaurus ajax could certainly rival the Titanosaurs, though given just how many Titanosaurs reached huge sizes in so many parts of the world, I wouldn't be surprised if a few of them got larger as species.

And that's important to keep in mind, we're comparing individuals, not species. Even the most well known of dinosaurs have only a few dozen specimens.

True, the only species we could say anything about with any degreeof certainty in terms of size is protoceratops, and thats just because we found so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ many of them, and yeah breviparopus was huge, looks to be in the "brachiosaurus" nougaredi size range

That is very intresting and I have never know about the Apatosaurus walking on two legs and also moving at 15.5 miles an hour seems to be a possible advantage that Apatosaurus would have had growing up in a land where every predator would have eaten them.

I also thought the maximum size of apatosaurus was around 70 to 75 feet or 23 to 24.5 meters. But the newer specimins are telling us that the animal could have been larger. And I thought Apatosaurus was able to travel long distances to follow the wet season as well as consume vast amounts of plants. Once resources have been exausted, the herd would move on.

Also leg breaking should also be a concern. Let's say your adult Apatosaurus falls off a 20 foot or 6 meter high ledge and breaks it's leg. Your leg won't heal at all due to the large size of your animal. So, your would just be laying there helpless due to a broken leg. Then a pack of 3 Allosaurus come along and eat your Apatosaurus, It's due to the fact your leg is broken and your now an easy meal to them.

In concusion, your brought up some facts that I didn't even know of. But I also wanted you to be aware that there would be things working against your behemoth if they decided to add it into survival.

the whole exhausting resources thing wasnt that big an issue since the morisson formation is such a diverse ecosystem, it has like 7 species of sauropods alone one of which was around 50 meters long

yeah the whole leg break thing would be amazing but i worry that dondi will just make them health tanks, if they are added to survival they should be added in such a way that the only dino you can go after and survive is a juvenile, sauropods are underestimated heavily in modern media, they were virtually invincible as adults
A healthy adult would have virtually no enemies. Their size alone protects it from all predators. That is the reason that sauropods have lots of offspring. Many of those youngesters would be eaten by predators in their first few years of their lives. But, there would be a few that make it to that gigantic size. That would take 10 years, but during those ten years the young would be on high alert for predators as many of those offspring would be eaten.

Also, Sauropods shouldn't be health tanks since they can get hurt easily if not careful. so that is the reason why they are so slow. Also the Leg breaking thing needs to happen. you would slowly die because you can't eat or drink because you can't get up.
