When you die why do you have to start all over again?

I was thinking when you die you can go 2 dinos under, not all the way down because it just makes the game way too hard, and it gets boring when you have to start all over again..

If you can't survive in a survival game then the punishment is to start at the beginning. There will be a new main mode to the game where you start off as a juvi version of a dino and will grow to adulthood. If you make it to an adult you will get a token to unlock another dino. The dinos you unlock will be permanently unlocked on that particular server so if you die you will have to grow up from a juvi again.

If you are nested in as a dino you haven't unlocked and die, the only way to become that animal again is to be nested. So for an example, you haven't unlocked Rex yet but two friends nest you in as a hatchling. As a hatchling you are killed by a utah, the only way you'd be able to be rex again is if you are nested in OR if you eventually unlock it.

This is a copy/paste of a post I made in another thread. Basically we're deleting both Sandbox & Progression, instead we're replacing it with a new gamemode that I think you'll like.

Let's say you start off as a Velociraptor, you manage to progress through that as you normally would and you'd gain a token. You can use that token to unlock ANY creature of your choice, so you could unlock a Deinosuchus or you could unlock a Tyrannosaurus.. But when spawning in as that creature you'd spawn as a juvenile, a tyrannosaurus would take like 8 - 12 hours to grow to an adult while something like a Herra maybe an hour or two.

In-order to unlock more dinosaurs you need to get all the way through that creature to get another token that you can use. When you die you keep all the dinosaurs that you've unlocked, you simply just go back to juvenile.

If it's a bit too hard for you then maybe survival isn't gamemode for you. Sandbox is becoming a mod and you can always play on sandbox, The new gamemode is more interesting and better gameplay, but it is in no way going to be any easier than progression

what you played the past weeks as "survival" servers, are EXACTLY the same as "progression" server now, only the name has changed.
The new "survival" mode is a new mode which is not yet finished

I would be more inclined to play if I didn't have to start over from the very start. I've yet to make it past the 2nd tier of anything, and I've only gotten to that 2nd tier twice.

I do say the idea of what will be coming may get me to playing more often instead of a 'theres no point just come on to bs a bit." I just want to play as the dinos I want to play as instead of having to go through all these others that take forever to progress to, or never even make it far due to people spawn camping.

Heck I don't even trust joining anyones herd or nest as that just leads to people using that to hunt me down. Like gee THATS nice so I can't even trust playing with others.

A sandbox server will give you the ability to play as any dino that is currently released to the public
