If this doesn't have Multiplayer. I will NEVER EVER EVER get this game. I was a MASSIVE fan of the other anno games and got multiple people involved in 2070, but without multiplayer they have lost around 11 sales of the people i know.
We will just stick to 2070...
It's smart marketing, they'll just release that in 3 stage DLC's. Each at $39 or something.
No, it's not smart marketing if it doesn't come in the base game and enough players are complaining and upset about that. Will those same players come back to buy it later on with additional cost for the multi-player DLC? That's somewhat risky.
I will say, however, that if Ubisoft did their statistics and found a majority of players did NOT play Anno 2070 multiplayer, then catering to the majority who play singleplayer with a more solid base singleplayer experience does make sense.
Let's just hope they don't charge that much for a multiplayer DLC pack. That would seem pretty excessive to me. I would not buy that.
Umm, veterans, or who truly enjoyed Anno series won't buy that, of course. But the kids, who are enjoying this dumbed down version will jump on the hype train. Matter of fact, they probably bought the season pass as well.
I honestly don't think those numbers of players is that high in this series. This game has always been a niche market appeal type game that doesn't even really fit in the hardcore RTS crowd's genre to start with. It's very casual and that appeals to a lot of players and maybe that's why they decided to go the route they went. We're not Ubisoft marketing so we don't know those figures or reasons.
It is true that if mp would yield a higher profit then it doesn't seem to make sense to make that change with 2205 by removing it. But if it is not the case, and the opposite is true...then Ubi is doing exactly what they should be doing.
And considering that the Season Pass only cost some players $39 or so (vs $35), getting it is very sensible.'
btw, refering to people who bought the game and Season Pass as "kids" is stupid. It's an attempt to devalue a particular demographic. Don't be "that guy" be better than that.
Is there a link for that announcement?
At least add a co-op campaign.
But I think that's still a mistaken view as it may take a bit of extra work to remove Uplay as a launcher from the game and make it stand alone (regardless of how small a task that is) and it removes the game from their platform, one in which they want to grow and make popular like Steam.
There are plenty of games sold on Steam that use 3rd party launchers and DRM. Uplay isn't unique in that way.
I'd be curious to know how many players still have technical issues with Uplay. It's gone through a lot of changes over the years. I know some still have issues...I myself experienced some login issues the other day...that was annoying, but solved after a bit. I know others have had similar experiences. But for the most part, I think most Uplay users don't have any major complaints about it. It's a vocal minority probably.
