Not going to lie. I think it might be most efficient to just do a back to back line. But for layouts do it with secrecy.

A back to back line is for the Artic very inefficient. You need to radiate as much heat as possible and make the most use out of it.

My Arctic base would disagree

By having so many expansion modules right against each other you are wasting overlap.

OP's V-shape is more efficient
RavensDaemon Nov 8, 2015 @ 11:38pm
except that you WILL have more production building with modules than you need houses to make items to send to the temperate zones.

lol my games are never that pretty.

It is not.. the OPs V shape is terribly inefficient in terms of credit balance because production modules are 50% cost. Also, realistically, you will exhaust every coastal building spot for food before you can fill out a map, so you want to maximize balance over space anyway.

You have lost.
-Workforce and a lot of power has being drained lol.
lnomsim Nov 9, 2015 @ 2:18am
I don't see the point of having that much workforce on antarctic, they are only needed to run factories, it's a huge waste of ressources (especialy for food), and a lot of products could be sent in temperate region where it's more profitable.

Moreover, more workforce = more community center, and more secrecy, wich aren't cheap.

It's the same on the moon, only create workforce if necessary, you don't want to waste earth ressources on the moon nor spend all your money on habitation modules that don't give you any revenue.

For space effiency and low workforce, you can do something like this:

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=551075901

-4 neuro factories
-24 modules
-20 houses

This style will need many drone modules.

The Artic is very tricky. It needs a clear objective. Going for max IO, going for max balance,...depends on how big your temperate city is.

Am I the only one who found "efficient heat" layout a waste? Since you'll end up with way more factories than you ever need so maximizing heat is not really a concern. In my current game I even have an island where I put most of my factories there clumbing together. I have no need for their heat.

Concern should be more about style and community service layout.

Your Artic region probably looks like the one posted somewhere above. This is the reason why the Artic can become a huge money sink.

I don't see the problem with service buildings like secrecy, community, metro,... If you want to build a big city, you need to first unlock these and start building your city around them. Use the global market to unlock these buildings.

You dont really need that much workforce effeciency in Arctic regions, as you will run out of coastal and mountains worksites before you will even fill 20% of the islands space available. Unless you are running for a huge-money-o'sink region, you dont have to worry about population density in Arctic...

OP I think you might find you can squeeze a few more in by using the 5 addons (for power reductions as an example) to further the spacing of the main produciton modules.

If you waste Artic resources on stuff like fish, canned food, stimulants,...then yes,the Artic will be a place that most will ignore.

Forgot those. These can indeed expand the radiated heat.
