Is it worth the money to buy it, for an Anno 1602 fan (me!)?
Hey forum dwellers,

I've been thinking of perhaps buying Anno 2205. I've personally been playing anno 1602 when I was a little kid (years after it was released) and probably got over a thousand hours invested in it. I also played Anno 1404 for a short time (never really catched me) and I witnessed the disaster that is Anno Online.
Now, I'm a bit sceptical about this title. True, it has epic graphics compared to what I'm accustomed with, and has a few extra neat mechanics, but I'm unimpressed with the setting and the game reminds me of Anno Online set in a different time period with a price tag added to it.

Thus, would you guys reccomend it or not?

Also, +1 for everyone who enjoyed bombing the hell out of those natives in Anno 1602 :P

You would be best to Buy Anno 2070 which is a much better game, I cannot justify buying this game and I love Anno, but no multiplayer, crazy price, bad reviews.. no thanks

The only other Anno I played is 2070 but from what I understand of the ones before it I don't know if you will like this one. If you liked competing against AI opponents, random maps I would skip this game but if all you want is an endless city builder with limited maps you might like it but no idea if it is worth the money without a sale.

As for Anno 2070 I would recommend that and from what I understand it’s more like the older Anno games. Didn't clock up a thousand hours but got over five hundred so would have been well worth the price even if I didn't buy it in a sale.

Think like this.

This is a fun game and actually a good game. But its not an Anno game as you are use too.
This is totaly different and actually a bit dumbed down. to point and click where you are told to click.

If you want an Anno that you are used too this is not the game.
I myself have thousands of hours in all Anno titles starting with 1602.

This is not within those titles.

i think its the best anno so far but for those who like the old annos might have problems with it
i like the new changes to it i diagree with nenne about that part where they say u have to klick where they tell u u can klick and build where ever u want atleast on ur islands or craters
u still have 2 think where to place ur stuff or u will have later the problem that u have drag and drop ur houses
but for its the best anno so far it heals my gamer heart after the let down with might and magic heroes the last part was buged and not good made

I played the other anno games and I am enjoying this one, although I think the re-playability is low. I have finished the campaign on expert. It was fun but not much of a challenge to be honest and now it's like meh what to do.

I don't recommend buying it from Steam. It's far too expensive. I only paid £18.99 for my copy. I don't understand why people have to buy stuff from Steam, even if it's 50% plus cheaper for a legit copy elsewhere, seems stupid to me.

NO.

It's like 1/3 of a game compared to Anno 2070.

Everything is slightly simplified so you don't miss it at first but then, I atleast, realised how much I prefered setting up transfer routes and seeing my fleet travelling the world map going about their business.

The combat is OPTIONAL BUT TERRIBLE, even on the hardest difficulty you could basically click attack/move and go afk, but that'll probably be a DLC feature...

Definately not worth £49.99 and at £19.99, the price I paid, I feel it was worth the price.

No more, no less.

Do yourself a favour and buy 2070. But if you don't care and love shiny, casual and watered down sequels, then yes, probably Anno 2205 is something you would like.

If you like Anno 1602, why don't you like Anno 1404???

Anno 1404 still the best Anno for me!

34 hours and still loving 2205 :)

I even bought it for a friend, and 2 more I know just got it. We were all on skype while playing.. they were all Oooooo Neat... this is cool....

So I would say.. yes.. worth the money :steamhappy:

As i don't know you, but you should, do you a favour and watch some Let's Plays to ask yourself if it matches to you. I played all Anno's so far and they had their time, but as i am getting older, i like the more comfortable games.
You can pick up buildings so you do not need to have the map in your mind. But if this was the thrilling part for you, something else might be more worth your money :riches:.
