Activating 2205 with Ubisoft
Ubisoft forced me to start an account just to activate the game and is now demanding an activation code I can't find. It's not in the email confirmation from Steam.

How do you activate this damned thing.

And Ubisoft gets that this is 2024 not 1994 right right?

That sucks! I was thinking of getting this game while its 85% off, but not if it can't be activated using my existing Ubisoft account for Anno 1800. Please let us know if you can get this resolved or if you returned the game. Thanks.

It looked like a great deal at 85% off but if it is this poorly supported it's not worth the aggravation. I've requested a refund.

I'm having exactly the same problem. WTF.

I had to do a system restart to even get it to anything.

Then when it does do something it takes you to Ubisoft where it downloads a bunch of crap, forces you to register with Ubisoft then you hit the activation wall with no code.

I'm sure there is a way around all this but it's not worth it for me.

I don't know for sure for this game, but sometimes when a game using an external launcher needs a license key, there's a section in the game settings within steam where you can get that key. If you hunt around in the settings for the game, you might find it.

And FWIW, this game has always required a Ubisoft account.

Otherwise try contacting steam support for help.

It is a really great game though. Occasionally there's an in-game voting system and a market that I think are tied to some online system that stops working. I don't know the state of those now but I think everything else should work. Anno 2070 is a little more dependent on Ubisoft's servers to fully work.

I had this issue crop up on my second time opening the game, I tried to close and reopen the game and it seemed to solve itself magically? I haven’t had it happen since.

Had this happen tonight. Following advice in another thread, I verified the integrity of local files after the first attempt. Steam downloaded one file, and the game launched correctly on the second attempt, with no prompt for an activation key.

In general, I find that Steam versions of Ubisoft games work better if you start Ubisoft Connect manually before attempting to launch. Don't rely on Steam to do it; that seems to lead to timing and synchronization issues.

if you willing to try it again, ubisoft games on steam should have the key under properties then the DLC page and it should be there. or you can look at the DLC page. click on that key dlc and just copy paste it into ubisoft connect

this is standard for almost all ubisoft games and i hate it. buying a game on one storefront and installing it only be forced too run it through there own platform

its a great game, such a shame ubisoft have this thing about doing it through there platform

In the past, yes, but that was not the case with ANNO 2205. There was no CD key in the Steam Properties page. Fortunately it does seem like a verify + restart fixes it.

can always count on ubisoft for making thing far more complicated than they need to be (or just screwing up)

sounds like a problem between the PC and chair, no issues here. Use the same account that you do for other UBISOFT steam games.
