Then when it does do something it takes you to Ubisoft where it downloads a bunch of crap, forces you to register with Ubisoft then you hit the activation wall with no code.
I'm sure there is a way around all this but it's not worth it for me.
And FWIW, this game has always required a Ubisoft account.
Otherwise try contacting steam support for help.
Had this happen tonight. Following advice in another thread, I verified the integrity of local files after the first attempt. Steam downloaded one file, and the game launched correctly on the second attempt, with no prompt for an activation key.
In general, I find that Steam versions of Ubisoft games work better if you start Ubisoft Connect manually before attempting to launch. Don't rely on Steam to do it; that seems to lead to timing and synchronization issues.
this is standard for almost all ubisoft games and i hate it. buying a game on one storefront and installing it only be forced too run it through there own platform
its a great game, such a shame ubisoft have this thing about doing it through there platform
In the past, yes, but that was not the case with ANNO 2205. There was no CD key in the Steam Properties page. Fortunately it does seem like a verify + restart fixes it.
