Fantasy/Alien planet Anno game next up?

I feel like they've exhausted the meaningful eras they can explore if they limit the series to Earth and its eras, even the two futuristic titles.
I would be REALLY interested in seeing how a fantasy setting would be like in an Anno game. They could go all out with floating islands, other races/architecture, all sorts of incredulous environments.
Or they could go for a setting where you settle a distant, alien planet for the first time, which I suppose is the natural step after the futuristic 2205.
Any one of these options would allow the developers to really switch the gameplay loop up as well.

I'm not sure what else I can say besides I would be interested in seeing what the Anno team can do with embracing a fantasy setting.

blue byte kinda does it with the Settlers series.

I would kill for a remake of Fragile Allegiance.
It's basically the ANNO concept - IN SPACE!

After having played Civilization IV and V, I was very impressed with what Amplitude did in making Endless Legend which was basically a clone of Civ V (a very good one) but in a fantasy setting. It really made for an interesting game being freed from actual human history that the Civ games take and the creativity in the civs you could play as made replaying more interesting.

I was hoping that they expanded to Mars, or the other planets, I love science fiction and when Anno came out with future, I was excited as I thought it was going forward, but was disappointed that it went back in time, I usually buy all the Anno, but not the new one

You should give Surviving Mars a try. It's no where near as good as the Anno games. It's a relatively small and more simplistic game but what is there is fairly good.
