Stock market money pit - is this a bug ?
To logically try to make the company that I play to be impervious to a hostile take over then I have bought all the stocks in my own company. However the competing companies still keep trying to buy my stocks, so I have to bid on them again at auctions (if I do not fend the auction off by using influence points and claim an anti trust situation). So , far so good as long as I have enough money to bid.
However, when I have bid and bought *my own* stocks on the auction then I as the owner logically ought to get my own money back but I never do. Is that a bug or is that design ?
(If by design then that seem to make the stock market into a pure money pit)

Apart from a couple of minor bugs (a crash and a can't get out of options settings menu by clicking ext and had to do a CTRL-ALT-DELETE) then otherwise ANNO 2205 has been the greatest game that I have played in a long time :-)

No it's not a bug, it's just how it works, for absurd it may seem. In fact you get your money only if someone else buys any of your shares. As for having enough money to bid, there is a trick that really works and makes the stock market challenge easy. You just need at least one world market trade route free and a fairly good income. After you win an auction, immediately create a world market route with a good that pays very well, and keep selling to a trader. Best trader for that is Zandra Haynes on the moon, go for goods like Anti-G, fusion cells, bio enhancers and even oxygen. She pays a lot of money for those. Another good option is selling All-weather parkas to Dr. Nylund in the tundra sector. This is the best way to refill your account, so you can counter any auction quickly. Another good strategy is to target the opponent who's highest in the rank, by buying his own share until he's out of the game. Then go for the next best one and so on.

Thank you very much for the kind answer and the strategy tips hand out , I find that the stockmatket thing kind of is a game in itself , and a kind of an annoying one at that , I mean considering that one signed up for city building with maybe a little fighting
Anyway after having spend some serious time trying to figure things out then I am slowly starting to learn. I have learned that ine of the opponents is week to hacking attacks , so another way to get money is to start bid with full account and then hack opponents account and than spend that money also

I would not waste precious influence in hacking attacks, I'd rather go straight to the point. Take your opponents out one by one, starting from the highest in rank, down to the lowest. Buy only shares that are in your target's portfolio, because are those that count. Use traders to refill your account right after you won an auction, and you'll see you'll basically win any auctions. Good luck.

You guys not telling him the most important piece
Prepare ur Corporate *ss for heavy income losses, the more shares u take the more u can win or suffer (I dont know how u can lose 65.000$ and not go bankrupt sry)

also if their trying to buy some of your shares dont fret, if u have the influence shut it down
if ur curious tho see how much they are willing to pay, u might get a pretty fat paycheck

Yeah , I shut any attempts down also if I have the influence. Anyway , I only opened the stockmarket because there were some interface message saying something about something that I could either not build or do before I opened stockmarket.
I have ben quite annoued by it since but now that it's there I will make the best of it and I would rather not load the old save game if I can avoid it.

Thank you very much to everyone for the tips and opinions :hee:
