Should I buy this game?
I've been coming back to this game's store time and time again, on the thought of buying it as I'm really into the "city building survival" type games, but it (currently) has mixed reviews. A lot of negative reviews, from what I've seen, are about how simple and basic they've made this game compared to past Anno games. Now, I've only really got into Anno 2070, and although I did enjoy that game, I felt a bit stressed throughout playing the "free play" mode, with trying to keep up with all the management.

So, my thoughts are that I would be into a more casual version of Anno 2070, which sounds like what Anno 2205 is. But, this game is also $40, and I don't want to play just 2 hours (for refund purposes), because I feel like I wouldn't be able to experience all it has to offer. So, I ask anyone who's played it, whether you enjoyed it or not, if I would like this game if I'm just looking for a more casual version of Anno 2070?

A2205 does further streamline the management so there's a chance you'll like it better than A2070 from the sound of it. But if you aren't in a hurry to find a new city building/management game to play then I suggest you wait for the next sale.

when will, or how often does, this game go on sale? Or is it just random?

The next major sale on Steam should be the winter one.

It is comparatively over streamlined but is still a complex economy management SIM. 2205 retains the slick feel and UI of other anno games and has plenty of content, especially with the DLC. It is by no means a casual game. Building a thriving lunar colony takes a long while to newcomers. After which you proceed to buy out the other corporations and eventually have a workerless corporation running on synthetic beings. It is a solid package and a fun game to go after all the achievements with. :techs:

Thanks, this is actually pretty helpful, compared to some of the reviews I've seen. I am kinda glad to hear that there is still a complex management system, from what others say, it sounds like they designed this game for kids lol I do plan on getting this game soon, thanks for the feedback

Anno 1800 does look pretty awesome, and I'll definitely be looking into it when it's released. What really piqued my interest with 2205 though is the sci-fi theme

2205 Is a great game in it's own right. But it streamlined a lot of the city building in order to focus on a multi-tier business simulator.

If you like figuring out infrastructure, corporate espionage, hostile take overs, trading, technological research, ets... than 2205 is a great game. The RTS part is probably it's weakest part. I have trouble going back to 2070 because I feel like there is so little to do but wait, fast forward, wait some more.

If you are looking for a city builder then 2070 is the better option. It's also way more user friendly and does a much better job explaining itself through the missions. It has a really cool underwater world too. It's RTS parts are way worse than 2205..

2205 has a lot of cool features, but you need to research it if you wish to understand all it's parts.

I mainly enjoy city progression more than city building (like seeing my city progress into different stages, rather than just watch it stay the same as it spreads throughout the world), but I would still like to have a "city building" aspect to it. The Technological Research and Hostile Take Overs is probably up my ally, I would like for stuff to actually happen with my city, not just have it sit there and do nothing lol. Thanks for the info :)

That's what I like about 2205. You start with your main city and then use it to fund an expansion in the artic circle. The artic helps upgrade your main city and they become interdependent.

Then once your tech reaches a certain point, you can try to fund a moon landing and that where I lost my first game. Creating a stable enviroment on the moon is super expensive.

Eventually the moon unlocks unlimited energy and that changes your entire game. Add in funding a space station that can change your entire economy throught tech research, means that you will be retooling to make your economy more efficient.

They added more enviroments you can take over to even add more flexibility.
