Can someone explain how the stock market works?
The in game "guide" that pops up when you start the market is worthless lol. I bought a share in one of the Big 5 companies right away to test it and my income dropped by 3k. Doesn't seem worth it...

I wonder what happens with all the Money?
Some random bloke pops up and wants to buy one of my shares (meaning one I own) and people start bidding over it.
What if I don't want to sell? Don't I need to agree to this?
How would that work in real life I wonder.
But that's just a minor inconvience to avoid complicated gameplay. I'll get that.

The biggest problem I have with this is that even if I managed to get that share back (for my money) that money is going to me. So where did it go?
Who got the 9 Million Credits I just wasted to win the auction of MY OWN share?
Pretty sure the World Bank and that one guy who's name I cannot remember that is in the center of the GU spaceport take it and spend it all on stimulants, construction bots, and wine.

Also, if I'm not mistaken, everyone is able to start auctions with other people's shares because you are all members of the Global Union. You can start an auction for Foxcoms and Lei Sheng can start an auction for yours and all that.

Here's a longer and more complicated explaination:

As you take over more and more companies, you get powerful benefits. Every share grants you +3% productivitiy in every facility of that type. Taking over all shares gives an extra 10%. Meaning every single facility produces 40% more with no extra maintainence cost. This applies after modules and multiplies them as well. Meaning that city that produces 100 androids will now produce 140 at no extra cost. 40 extra androids.

strange, i get only 2% per stock (10% for all) and no takeover bonus

iam playing on veteran, thats the problem?

Yes. Veteran changes the values: 1% per stock (as shown in your screenshot, not 2%), and no takeover bonus

I am playing with stocks since lvl 10 (and yeah its hell ;3)
I pretty much living only on selling moon goods manualy (cybernetics via direct trade to colonist earn a lot)

I halted my progress at lvl 12 atm (trying to stabilise enough to start building new cities in starting area to get into blue numbers) I own all my stocks and few stocks from other companies

I realised too late I should focus on one company and buy it slowly out (I have stocks spread out, less risk but too many competitors on biding) and well maybe I should start again and only enter stocks after I have 30-50k profit so I can safely dump all my credits to buyout stock safely every atempt

Also probaly its not wisest idea to rush to the moon (landed there at lvl 10) or having multiple astronauts training centers

When playing the stock market, the best thing to do is to buy all your own shares first, then focus on taking over one company at a time
Also, you can shut down auctions by spending 15 influence, which helps when they are bidding on your shares and you don't want to or can't spend the money to out bid them

How should this work? When I got into the stock market, I had ~4 million max., which was raised to 8 million max.
They bid for ~4 million on my shares, and they even bid for the shares I already have.

You have to horde coins to bribe anti-trust investigators to shut down bids you don't want to happen. The game lets' anyone bid for anyone else's shares regardless of whether they own them or not.

Anyone can bid on any share, they can bid on shares you already own and you can bid on shares they already own

I'd recommend reclaiming your own company fully above everything else as you gain influence from your own shares which can be used to shut down bids to protect your shares for free

if you have too less influence you can finish some of that duties on the map, that helps much to prevent the buyout of your company shares
