Is there a sandbox / freeplay mode?
Can i start a sandbox game with custom diffliculty like in (most) of the previous games or can i only play the sectors available on the 'stratgic' map? If yes, is there at least a mode where i don't have to follow the campagne?

From everything ive read the answer is NO, thats kept me from buying the game.

Alright, thanks.

I actually bought it on Uplay and was a little baffled to see that there really is only the campagne and nothing else. Even the dlcs take place in the campagne.

its a forced story mode. nothing like anno 2070.

It only has continous / sandbox mode, nothing else. You are forced thru a tutorioal at the start, tho.

You can completely ignore the campaign. It does guide you through the game, and completing it is an achievement. So basically the game is continous mode, sandboxed to the available sectors.

You'll want to complete the first part to gain access to the upgrade modules, but even that is just a matter of getting enough operators to upgrade your spaceport. You'd do this anyway.

The only gated content I can think of are DLC sector projects that you need to complete to gain access to Synths and Tundra upgrades.

There are no random maps. But I've found the sectors provided provide plenty of space and small building challanges.

The difficulty settings have plenty of options. You can toggle many things on/off, including catastrophies and invasions. You can decide when or even if you wish to play the stock market. Basically, you can set the game to be as challanging or as casual as you like.

All my opinions are based on the complete game with all DLC, your mileage may vary.

The campaign is definitely not forced. You can do whatever you want. If you don't want to follow the campaign then don't. The game can be pretty sandbox. You don't have to follow the campaign and you can customize the difficulty settings a lot

Thats EXACTLY why my answer wasnt based on fact !!!
Reading comprehension is free........

From everything ive read the answer is STILL no.................. if your unhappy with that provide some reputable verifiable counter information. You FAILED to do that sadly. You did however take oppurtunistic advantage to call some1 a liar while offering ZERO opposing information. Thats kina like knowing the truth and calling some1 a name because they dont know something you do. Instead of informing and being helpful you have sadly chosen the immature combative approach to try to bolster your pathetic lack of self esteem by trying to " win " an internet battle.

Looking OVER all the replies your informative fact filled post is missing.............. oh thats right rather than even attempt to help you just decided to TROLL like a immature child.

well done sir !

I would say it''s rather the opposite. In comparison to older anno, anno2205 has ONLY sandbox mode with a small side quest that you can do or don't. A "real" campaign like there was in older anno doesn't exist.

The thing with this is, it seems impossible to fail. If you've one sector up and running, theres no way to 'loose'. Also there doesn't seem to be real ai enemies. Just the campagne 'villians' who won't move out of their comfort zone.

Many people say that the new veteran mode with frontiers is quite hard and you CAN fail.

The diffliculty mode? (When creating the company). From all what i've seen, it just increases the cost and decreases the income. So you need more of everything to break even.

Yes, you need more to break even. But you can go bankrupt if you don't manage your finances. An ill timed invasion or catastrophe can be a game ender if you are in a tight spot already.

With fee based demolition you can't delete buildings if your broke. With idle building costs you can't simply just turn a few things off since they still have a minimum cost.

I've lost a few games by not paying attention on the hardest settings. And with all the different chains across multiple sectors it isnt that hard to lose track of something.

There is no competition for sectors like 2070 though. The closest to that is the stock market which is a finacial contest.

Wether that sounds fun or not is up the individual.
