But I think youv'e got a good point there and I personally see no reason why it shouldn't be possible ..
devs listen up and rethink your marketing strategy or else you'll just make another completely worthless dead in the water game on pc.
this "you can't run dedicated servers on consoles" is complete ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. rocket league shows that you can. the devs have their own dedicated servers and allow cross-plattform multiplayer and its working flawlessly. without it even a game like rocket league that is a major success would be dead after a few months on pc. with cross plattform multiplayer the game will still have an active community in a few years (right now the game peaks at 180.000 players concurrently overall whilst around 22.000 or them are on pc.. rest is ps4 which clearly shows the differences between playerbases on consoles and pc. ofc i know its because the game is free on ps+ right now but still all ppl that want to play online on ps4 need ps+ anyway so they will have the game free forever as long as they want to play this or anything else online lol. thats not an excuse for this high playerbase right now ^^)
they could just give the pc version the same "hassle free way of connecting users to eachother" than on console and make it cross-plattform but if they don't want to then well.. i won't buy a game that will most likely be dead on arrival :( very dissapointing because i absolutely LOVE the artdirection the game is taking and always loved the trackmania series fom an gameplay point of view.
yeah i know i bought canyon on release and hated myself for buying it because 2 months later there were only the same 100-200 ppl playing it and i don't consider a game alive online if it only has the same 100-200 players -.- i want to play with new ppl all the time not with the same ones.
in my opinion you are absolutely right about that and its a huge mistake they did with trackmania 2 -.-
in theory the playerbase should be higher then on those tm2 environments but i still doubt it will have a playerbase high enough to be considered "alive online" because theres already soo much hate going on about this game. i bet the game will be downvoted on release on steam to like 60% or 70% and this alone will be enough to kill it (why ? because no dedicated servers and very console-like focus.. 2 reasons that are enough for hundreds if not thousands of ppl to give negative reviews -.- i hate it but its normal these days)
i really!! hope i'm wrong but in the end i'll be right :( life sucks -.-
