Will this game have cross-plattform multiplayer ???
hi there,

i've one question.

will this game have cross-plattform multiplayer ?

i'm asking because its pretty clear this game will be a fail on pc. unfortunately tm² already was a huge fail (bought canyon for full price and regretted it because it lost nearly all of its players within the first 2-3 months after release). this will be even worse on pc only which you already can see because it didn't even hit the top 15 or top 20 on steam even after the preorders started.

right now its at place 151 on the bestseller list (yeah i counted). (and please don't argument that its because the game is still months away from release. promising games get into the top 10 or top 20 even half a year before they are beeing released.. ^^)

i'm still EXTREMELY interested in this game as i loved tm2 canyon as long as it was fully playable with enough players to not play with the same 50 ppl all the time (i don't consider a game alive in online mode if it only has like 50-100 players and nearly always even the same)

but

i've made way too many mistakes in the past in buying games that died online after 2-3 months and i'll never make this mistake again. without crossplattform mutliplayer the game is (in my personal opinion) dead on arrival. with crossplattform multiplayer it should be the opposite and the game should have thousands of players for many months and even years because of the console versions..

i would buy the game instantly for the full price if it has/gets crossplattform multiplayer. how are the chances ??

(i don't want to bash the game neither do i intend to criticise a game thats not even released, but due to my personal and vast experiences in gaming i'm not making another mistake, especially not for such a price (i would buy it blindly for 10€ lol))

regards

Q: Is trackmania Turbo multiplayer cross platform ?
A: No, PC clients can't connect to console servers and vice versa. As TMT uses a different framework for hosting multiplayer games, and as you can't run dedicated servers on consoles, Nadeo/ubisoft will provide a hassle free way of connecting console users to eachother.

But I think youv'e got a good point there and I personally see no reason why it shouldn't be possible ..

ohhh :( maybe i should have read the FAQ sorry ;).. damn thats dissapointing. i'm extremely sure that only cross-plattform multiplayer can make this game a success on EVERY plattform.

devs listen up and rethink your marketing strategy or else you'll just make another completely worthless dead in the water game on pc.

this "you can't run dedicated servers on consoles" is complete ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. rocket league shows that you can. the devs have their own dedicated servers and allow cross-plattform multiplayer and its working flawlessly. without it even a game like rocket league that is a major success would be dead after a few months on pc. with cross plattform multiplayer the game will still have an active community in a few years (right now the game peaks at 180.000 players concurrently overall whilst around 22.000 or them are on pc.. rest is ps4 which clearly shows the differences between playerbases on consoles and pc. ofc i know its because the game is free on ps+ right now but still all ppl that want to play online on ps4 need ps+ anyway so they will have the game free forever as long as they want to play this or anything else online lol. thats not an excuse for this high playerbase right now ^^)

they could just give the pc version the same "hassle free way of connecting users to eachother" than on console and make it cross-plattform but if they don't want to then well.. i won't buy a game that will most likely be dead on arrival :( very dissapointing because i absolutely LOVE the artdirection the game is taking and always loved the trackmania series fom an gameplay point of view.

Well another reason for TrackMania 2's lack of sales and player population is the way they split up the game. The ManiaPlanet infrustructure is all split up, meaning the player bases for all of the three environments got split up, and therefore each game is more scarce as a result. However with Turbo, all of the environments (games, environments, whatever we're calling them) are now in one, complete package, without separate prices or fees. And the player base will all be in one game as well. So, the player base should be as large as the three other TrackMania 2 games combined (or more, given the E3 advertising and lack of five million patches in the launch window that plagued TrackMania 2). Or maybe you're right and it will be dead on arrival. I'd like to think that it'd be more lively as a result of the new art direction and E3 advertising and whatnot though.

yeah i know i bought canyon on release and hated myself for buying it because 2 months later there were only the same 100-200 ppl playing it and i don't consider a game alive online if it only has the same 100-200 players -.- i want to play with new ppl all the time not with the same ones.

in my opinion you are absolutely right about that and its a huge mistake they did with trackmania 2 -.-

in theory the playerbase should be higher then on those tm2 environments but i still doubt it will have a playerbase high enough to be considered "alive online" because theres already soo much hate going on about this game. i bet the game will be downvoted on release on steam to like 60% or 70% and this alone will be enough to kill it (why ? because no dedicated servers and very console-like focus.. 2 reasons that are enough for hundreds if not thousands of ppl to give negative reviews -.- i hate it but its normal these days)

i really!! hope i'm wrong but in the end i'll be right :( life sucks -.-
