While fabricating wholesale reasoning on behalf of ALL whom have issue with the industry trend of, not only complete character profiling via information gathering [you'd comprehend the workings of such if you knew that ALL commerce comes under ONE umbrella firm, who has all avenues of influence at their disposal to trickle down through the strata of commercial ranks] but also [and this relates to a larger demographic of good-hearted people, not necessasarily in-the-know on the true workings of the world] the more worrying trend of removing more ownership of actual physical [offline] product before removing rights of usage of same digital [online] product that has been paid for through IOUs traded for labour.
If individual control via physical ownership is removed, and the digital [virtual only] equivalent has strings attached, then NOTHING IS TRULY BEING SOLD, ASIDE GRANT OF LICENCE - so stop asking me to buy licences which, by their very nature, allow you take my labour for FREE! [asking permission invokes submission to a perceived master, whom has been granted authorisation (by you) over you and subsequently final say]
Because I'm aware of this, I treat Steam as a video-game RENTAL system and apply this when considering cost of purchases: "Am I willing to rent this game for the duration that it will take for me to complete it and possibly want to play further?"
Steam "got in" first and do not mandate much that negatively impacts me that I am not willing to accept as a rule: such as not being able to log in to the same account via two machines simultaneously to play ther same single copy of a game.
I can do that with a physical disc, but this is why I treat Steam as a rent situation as opposed to a purchasing one and, with that in mind, continue to use it.
However...
This new trend of "big guns" all pulling out of feeding Valve a cut in order to create more blatant labour-THEFT variations is as ugly as record companies or the Blu-Ray "conspiracy" [let's not mince words. That's what their gang is]
I don't want all my labour and life feeding a digital VR which can be unplugged at a whim, or the threat of such loss to coerce me into living permanently in VR and controlled by threats of unplugging all that I've fed into it as a tech'-dependent junkie.
How do you know i have 4gb ram? Your just trying to flame me, i have far more then that.
And your wrong, steam does not save everything on the cloud, your savegames are in the save folder of game, uplay have a similar option too but it dosnt work on Far Cry red dragon. Instead of whining and flameing try giving me a solution instead.
If anything, Uplay causes people to pirate Ubisoft games they otherwise would have bought, since it's some aggressively anti-consumer ♥♥♥♥ that a good deal of people have serious issues with.
UPlay = I Don't Pay
The vast majority of DRM screws over the legitimate paying customer so that, if they don't simply resort to downloading ripped (and circumvented) copies themselves, they're likely to rip and Torrent the same media that "burned" them (to spite the pigs behind it) - to save other consumers the misery and loss of labour.
It also take less than one second to uplay to corrupt your filesave with their failed net-clouds.
Slavery Inc. predominantly uses "convenience" and "security" to sell itself to the unwitting.
Anywhere under the "IT" division of said military, more and more you will be asked for personal [commercial] data, including phones etc., asked to combine accounts or use one to verify another, or use "one account for all services" [there are several bringing this to fruition at this very moment - and they're all tied to each other anyway!] while all of it goes into building your profile at data-central [based at global HQ - Switzerland], aka CERN. [There is no Hadron Collider, fools! Atoms are charged nodes formed of convergent forces, and nothing in themselves.]
ps. NADEO's poor decisions regarding whom they sleep with are not my concern. Their fate is of their own making.
I just never had any corrupted saves on any Ubi' games, this is just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
Ah. The old, "It's not a problem for me, so it's not a problem for anyone else" argument.
Consider yourself lucky... and hope that you maintain that luck. Because it will suck if it happens to you after putting in 40+ hours into a game.
