Trackmania Turbo

Trackmania Turbo

Does it have Dedicated server support?
Tbh the biggest reason why I liked TM in the past was being able to play with 200 people while listening to the crazy music. Without Dedicated servers that wouldn't be possible and with this being a console game, I'm wondering if it is just P2P or something.

Thanx.

Without dedicated this game is pretty much dead at launch. Hopefully they see just how many people stick with Stadium and patch servers in.

No dedicated servers means a ton of cheaters to ruin the game?

Yep same here. No dedicated servers, no buy. Already marked it as Not Interested on the store page.

Why no dedicated servers increase the number of cheaters? There is no relation between the two things.

I believe the thought process is that without a dedicated server admin to kick/ban, people who cheat tend to be more disruptive to gameplay. In which case I could understand that, vote kicks don't always work well. You see things like that happen in the PC version of the Call of Duty games which don't have dedicated servers (not to mention lag and other issues, but that's another discussion entirely).

But yes, agree'd that P2P or dedicated doesn't affect how many people will cheat.

With dedicated servers you have the ability for third party cheat protection and active admins. Is this game just a P2P system? Cause not only will it have lots of lag like every P2P game ever, but cheaters cannot get themselves excluded from a server. With a game like Trackmania 2 , they'd only have to get banned from about 4 servers and then they cannot play anywhere worthwhile.

However myself while playing Trackmania 2, I've never come across a cheater so I don't know if they even bother with this type of game.

For me it's just about the player count and the crazy music, listening to those dub step remixes and the crazy techno, it makes the game.

The servers are hosted by us (Nadeo) on dedicated machines, not P2P between players.

About cheated times/records, with have a custom technology that dismissed fake/unrealistic times automatically (and in real time, we also have an automatic second check periodically on all registered times) so you don't need to worry about that :)

Why cant players host their own dedicated servers? No more custom maps, no more crazy music, and the integration of uPlay?

What are you guys at Nadeo possibily thinking? You were always great to the PC community, this all seems like a big f*ck you to the platform!

For the hosting of dedicated servers, it's because it'll require to delay by a lot the release to do a specific version for the PC. Initially a PC version wasn't even planned but we though later during the development that it'll be cool to propose it to the PC gamers because it wasn't long/hard to port the game (thanks to the architecture of the new-gen consoles)

But no player-host dedicated servers doesn't mean no custom maps ;)

Again, Turbo has a different philosophy than Maniaplanet/Trackmania. This is not the sequel to Trackmania PC/Trackmania².

You might be different from maniaplanet, but why the ♥♥♥♥ would you remove all the good things from the old games and leave the boring things in the game? Dont you want to sell games or what? Maybe you should hire some guys which have played the old trackmania games...
