To get faster simply split up the track into sections and just try to master each section instead of the whole race. Before you know it its easy, granted some tracks will take a few hours and some take 10 or so mins but you will notice improvements.
If any part of the course is making you wanna rage or kill something lol then goto the editor and make a little section of track thats an exact copy of the spot you are stuck at, and practice that part over and over again, usually within 20 runs you will master that section, then return to the original map and you WILL see fast improvements.
Problem is in this game that by the time your eyes tell you to turn or drift or brake its a bit too late, by practicing setions and useing landmarks to start a turn or drift you will get alot faster, ALOT.
In my opinion all TM are about the same speed but TMTurbo runs ALOT smoother for my machine.
Currently I dont know and I dont think multiplayer cars can be disabled from showing up in multiplayer races. Heres a tip, try and not look at the cars but a bit infront of the track that way you wont follow the lines of other players and maybe make mistakes. Kinda like when you drive in RL you dont just look at the cars ahead of you but past them to the road up ahead. I wish you good races and great luck!
At least you can disable the name tags if they are disturbing you.
Regarding the speed of the cars, I have got the same impression (I'm > 40
Everything is quite fast paced in Turbo.
But it's also due to the more narrow tracks.
Canyon and Stadium are rather easy to drive.
Valley has always been partially difficult, and Lagoon seems to have added one more level (at least on the rollercoaster parts).
I prefer Mario Kart 150ccm. LOL
