if you have to do pixel perfect jumps to avoid obstacles,it takes away the fun of the game and just makes it frustrating.
I expect them obstacles in the red and black tracks mostly for the pro racers who want a challange.
This would have been a great game if the devs thought about the track obstacles layout and placing the obstacles less in the early tracks.
I just feel most of the tracks were rushed or made from the track generator and tweaked a little with no thought put into them, just adding obstacles in stupid places and thought that will do.
So yes, I do like the maps, especially the red ones proved to be quite fun to hunt :)
Only thing frustrating for me are the puddles in valley, and sand + wood in lagoon. Those feel just very unpredictable and inconsistent with the whole trackmania experience. I usually try go get all gold if not trackmaster medals on all tracks as I progress, but when I come across tracks with too much of those elements I'll also go with silver for now.
i'Ve to agree on sand and wood in lagoon. the puddles of water in valley are ok though. in stunt mode (online) you can easily jump over them and otherwise you can minimize the speed loss if you drive on the edge of them.
regarding sand and wood.. wood is really unpredictable and i really hate that. eventually i'll get used to it (i already got used to it kinda) but wood is really hard to predict.
sand is superslippery but you can predict it much easier. on sand its best to turn slightely into the corner and then stop accelerating and slide through the corners. that way its manageble and not even THAAAT hard. just practise and you will get the hang of it sooner or later (not saying that i can drive all this perfectly though. i'm a medicore player at best, but after trying numerous times i got used to valley offroad and even lagoon sand so that i can drive it without too much risk of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ up everything..)
Its kind of an elitist game, no real fun for the averge driver.
Do I like it?
Yes but I like to only play games that make me want to kill myself, so when I do win the RUSH is worth it. I like games that arent watered down for the masses to please everyone.
So all these precious kids complaining aboput bad lvl design need to take a step back and consider how much replayability there would be if even a 5 yr old could get Green/Gold the first 3 or so runs. I bet you would get bored real fast. Hard games IMO have more replay value as you are always chasing the next best time even if its by .72 secs.
