I just tried the demo.

I would buy it if i could have the cockpit view all the time. It's also sad that you can only drive vr tracks and not the normal ones...

I think they went a little bit to far to get the game comfortable for everyone...

Tried the demo before buying ( thankfully), I couldn't find where to change the camera to be 1st person, if you can't then I find that very odd, so far I am not used to a VR experience where I am not the centre of whats going on, especially a racing game, it is so much more immersive which I think is kinda the point of playing in vr.

For me the best vr experiences are the ones that put ME into the game world that I am playing in, I kind of felt like an observer in this being able to look around in third person just didn't feel right and made it difficult to control the vehicle with me floating around behind it, I would have much preferred to have experienced the track rushing toward me, and to have enjoyed the speed, turns and climbs and drops while controlling my racer seated inside it.

Not sure what the thinking was here, makes me wonder if the devs have played many vr games, a thought re-enforced by the fact that I couldn't see how to recenter the camera on myself, as with Vive my position for seated playing is not in the centre of my roomscale area, otherwise I would keep falling over it when playing roomscale games...

Will keep in touch with it and maybe there is a bumper or 1st person and recenter option that I missed.

It is labled in the options and settings for the controller key binds. Its supposed to be
the right thumbstick. Pressing down on it changes the camera view. It only seems to work
in normal game play, not in VR. :(

Oh, and i totally agree with you guys on the VR tracks, completely watered down
compared to the normal tracks.

You can't change your view in VR- the game decides on the odd occasion to change it from 3rd person to bumper cam on certain loops, jumps and walls. It is also not the whole 200 track compaign, just 40 extra small-ish tracks. A missed opportunity when older Trackmania titles had unofficial Oculus Rift DK2 support, and that allowed the camera to be changed and worked on all of the tracks- so certainly possible to create but clearly not done for Trackmania Turbo.

There has to be a way to go into the console or the script and change camera position.

Only thing is if you do that, it stays that way, at least till you change it back.

This is so stupid! The camera is fixed, so it's hard to get feedback when you turn your car around. The world is too small, so I dont feel like a big deal when jumping and it doesnt feel fast.

Whoever designed the VR mode, did a poor job IMO. I dunno why they didn't at least implement a front hood camera.

So much wasted potential!

Also, can't play the old regular tracks, again, that is odd desicsion but maybe it's because it requires extra actors in the level or a different pawn to make VR work. But yeah, being able to play old tracks would boost the playability of the game.

I agree about the potential. I played TM2 when it supported an early Oculus runtime, and it had cockpit view. And it was absolutely glorious and exhilarating. The two things that would get me rabidly excited about this game again: cockpit view in VR, and VR on all tracks. It happened in TM2, I really hope it happens in TMT.

Thanks so much for the info here... that's another game removed from my 'wanted' list! such a deal breaker for me!

No cockpit view in VR?! Another VR title to avoid. :steamfacepalm:

So disappointing ! And it's not even comfortable ! following the car only makes me sick... There are no cockpits modelised in the game but they could at least make a hood view.

Are they still updating his game?
2018 could be great for sales as the VR HMD's have all dropped to affordable prices and games like this could be huge money makers if implemented correctly.
At least bonnet cam and more tracks.

At most, I could see this being the main selling point for the next game instead of them fixing what they already have. I've even recommended before that they add a setting for VR to unlock the limits on VR. With changing this setting, you get warnings and such so Ubisoft won't get bitten back for people that may be upset with motion sickness or something. So people who want a kid ride, they can, and people who want to go crazy, they also can.
