But I'm not sure if they are saved automatically, nor if this feature is only available with the regular version of Maniaplanet (Trackmania² series to be more precise).
But you need to check if in your documents folder "Trackmania Turbo" there is also a folder Replays\Replays (yes, double the same folder name) otherwise it won't work at all.
The ghosts from e.g. the campaign tracks are stored in different files, and do not contain the map information contrary to replay files.
I did a quick test and I was not able to import a ghost to that replay.
The full ghost and replay editing features are only available with Trackmania² unfortunately.
This also means for you that you better not beat your own time on this map, to preserve the ghost, as long as we don't have a solution.
And the next time, think of using the R key to save the replay...
