Rytmik Ultimate & Studio: which one has more users?
I own both but I noticed that Rytmik Studio has been in Early Access for around 4 years now and it looks like there are less people uploading tracks on that version. I'm also a bit surprised that their Clouds aren't synchronized, but I'm sure it has to do with Rytmik Studio having different sound effects as well as having the function to add your own samples

And yes that is because studio has a lot more features that ultimate wouldn't be able to do anything with. Ultimate I guess has more users considering its older and cheaper and also has the free rytmik player, but I wouldn't pick ultimate over studio any day. If you are wanting to become popular or something on either service I wouldn't place bets since the cloud service is very barebones and doesn't even have stuff like comment notifications. I'd just go via soundcloud or something if you wanna share music & gain traction.

Yeah for me personally, I wouldn't use Rytmik to try and become popular or to be serious about making or sharing music just because despite having all these SFX to work with, they mostly have a similar, specific sound or genre and I would like to have a wider variety to expand my options. I just think of Rytmik it as a quick and easy mini-software to make some cool sounding songs, but to be fair I mostly used Rytmik Ultimate on 3DS and then only used the Steam port and the Studio version a little bit here and there over the years.

Question, is there any other software that you would recommend checking out for making music like this? I don't really mind if I can't share it, I'd just like something else that I could really experiment with and make a ton of bad songs and a few good ones.

That being said I'm definitely going to check out Rytmik Studio again because I really forget all the new stuff it has compared to Ultimate.

Edit: my question about software, it would be nice if there is one on Steam but it doesn't have to be since Steam was obviously not made specifically for music-making software

Not sure if there are any good ones on steam, and honestly I don't really know much about any other music software. I'm just a hobbyist who happened to start with rytmik on the dsi so I've stuck to it for years to avoid going through more steep learning curves. I want to get on FL studio sometime though

Ahh fair enough, that makes sense. Oh FL Studio looks pretty cool, thanks for mentioning that one

FL Studio however is on a whole other level. If you are planning on investing money in this passion, of course it's a good software. But you will find it's much more expensive than Rytmik Ultimate. It's not Cubase expensive, however!

I've tried a few cheap softwares. Personally, I still have a lot of fun with Ultimate and I still use it regularly, but there's also Cakewalk by Bandlab ( formerly Sonar Home Studio by Cakewalk - Bandlab acquired Sonar/Cakewalk some time ago ) which is free to download that I would recommend to you. Once you get that DAW, you will probably need to get VST ( Virtual instruments ) because the base software doesn't have much - it's free, after all. There's a bunch of free ones online, all you need is to search for "Free VST" and you should get many results. Another free software that can be handy is Audacity. It doesn't look good, but it does the job.

I wish Steam would have more audio softwares. I tried a couple of them but Rytmik Ultimate is by far my favorite. I tried Mixcraft 8 Home Studio but I found it to be very similar to Cakewalk, which is, like I said, free...

Thanks for the recommendation, I'll definitely check these out!

FL Studio user here. And yes, 100% worth your money, even if it's just a hobby.
Make sure to get the Producer edition, fruity edition is to limited.
You pay once and you get free updates forever, unlike many other DAW where you have to pay for each update.
One thing I would say about FL Studio though, on the negative side. It doesn't have many great stock plugins for other than electronic synthezised music.
Since plugins can be very expensive, it might be something to look into what stock plugins from each DAW suit your needs. But they all have demo's pretty much, so you can try them out.
FL Studio did recently add a pretty awesome plugin, excellent for beginners. It's a plugin called FLEX, where you for free have I believe over 1500 presets, with option to purchase more for cheap. And to be fair there are some realistic piano's and strings and so on in there.

There is actually some pretty decent free DAW's out there.
Cakewalk used to be a payed DAW but is now free. I never tried it, but I only heard good things.

Excellent, thanks for the info. Yeah I was checking out the different versions of FL Studio, makes sense that Fruity Edition would be very limited in comparison to Producer Edition

Does Producer edition ever go on sale? I really want to get it but if it does I think I would wait for it to
