Finished act 5, trying endgame (anomalies/ancient beast) but I'm not sure how to proceed.
Hi there! This game is incredible and I'm loving it so far. I'm playing as a warlok summoner, and upon finishing act 5, I tried doing some random anomalies at mythical 1, then mythical 3 to start the ancient beast questline.
My question is: how do I proceed to power up gear? Currently I'm using the Demon's lord set (aside the helm, for which I'm using infernal horns). I've looked on both reddit and here, but I still can't grasp what I should do:

- Do I have to hope for true legendaries to drop, or should I first focus on improving my own legendary set?

- if the latter, how should I improve my gear?

- How does great augmenting works? I know that it is used to further increase stats on a piece of gear, but if it still locks in place the bonus, does that means that in order to further improve it, I must remove the lock with transmutation, rinse and repeat?

Thanks in advance for anyone willing to answer my questions! :)

The first thing to do if you haven't already is to farm one of the 8 class-specific sets. If you're playing a Warlock, that means Plague Mage, Masochist, Desecrator etc. You then set up a skill tree that synergises with that set. If you use a Plague Mage set, build around Infection, if you use Masochist, build around bane spells, etc. For progression, it is important to have at least one source of infinite stacking, and class sets will give you that.

The next thing you should do is farm dungeon anomalies. Dungeon anomalies grant rune rewards which are otherwise inaccessible (or at least very hard to get). Between those runes and normal legendaries, try to find stuff that synergises with your build. For example, there's a ring which lets zombie/plague bearer companion proc Infection, which might be useful for Plague Mage, depending on your build. Then there's a rune which lets you summon more zombies/plague bearers, which is useful if you end up going with aforementioned ring, etc. If you keep going down the line, the rune/item slots will eventually get filled up with stuff that's useful to you in some way. No need to worry about true legendaries before that.

Greater augmenting only locks the enchantment, not the actual number. If you have the necessary resources (especially the memory essences; if you're in the early stages of the endgame, you might be short on those), all you need to do to greater augment your items is talk to Chantelle.

Thanks for replying!

As for the sets, I'm using the demon's lord set which focuses on companions, but as far I know it doesn't have an infinite stacking ability, does that means that I should change set?

As for runes, do you mean runes with an ability already? if so which mythical level should I farm them?

As for greater augmenting, should I do that only after I reach the cap with normal augmenting?

Demonlord is an exception, it can get pretty far even without stacking, simply because the base damage is ridiculous. That being said, you do need the right tools to make it good (Foul Demon is an extremely important rune).

You should farm dungeon anomalies at Mythic 1 or higher. Mythic 14 and 15 give you 2 runes per run, but that's only efficient if you can comfortably clear those difficulties.

Yes, greater augmenting is just normal augmenting past the cap.

I see, thanks! So far I can only succesfully complete up to mythic 3, from 4 I basically get oneshotted by any enemy spell. What would be an efficient way to increase my resistances? re-rolling elemental resistances on gear?

Gems can be a good way to get resistances. I believe boots and rings can roll all resist?
Combining that with the Kingsrock item bonus either through equipping or transmutation can get you covered pretty fast

I thought that all gear aside weapons gave resistances, maybe I was wrong though, I need to check it. Kingsrock sounds good as a rune, but I would have to sacrifice a rune slot for it, so I need to see if there are other solutisons too. Thanks for the info though!
