Character is missing?
My chaaracter that I've been playing for a while now suddenly is gone, all progress all mention of the character is gone..... What happened, has anyone experienced this?

Your character may have become corrupted, which can happen if you have a power outage or an unexpected shutdown while playing or syncing the save with steam cloud. We've also had reports of anti-virus programs sometimes stopping saves (very rare), and sometimes even the steam cloud itself being the issue, but we've not been able to confirm that ourselves.

Unfortunately it's something that can happen, and you can try to restore the backups. Try opening your character save file in notepad - is it blank? Then try opening the bak1 and bak2 files in notepad as well. If they're all blank, there's nothing we can do. But if at least one of them has text/numbers in it, you can safely delete the others, and change the .bak1/2 bit of the name to .char, and the game will load up the backup instead.

Hope this helps!

I go to single player and load character and there is no trace of him. I checked my Appdata in the Chronicon folder and the save file still remains.... but for some reason it does not show up in game.

Also other save data like entries are still seen, like my loot filters and settings but for some reason the character isn't being recognized

I find the explanation of the dev highly unlikely. Basically this can only happen, if you shut down your computer by pulling the plug right in the moment the game saves or the OS flushes it's buffers. Also steam cloud uses file hashes, so incomplete uploads result in the "old" save remaining unchanged. If the antivirus interrups IO access, it would likely notify the user about suspicious behavior. Also other games would have equally frequent corruption of save files, if steam or the antivirus where the cause.
It is wayyy more likely, that the game has a save file corruption bug, that needs investigating and fixing. Ideally by looking at the corrupted save files.
