Faster weapons deal more damage the more they hit(sustained) while slower weapons deal more dmg in each hit(Burst).
example:
you have +200 damage on your gear
weapon 1, 110% attack speed, 300 damage, 330 DPS
weapon 2, 100% attack speed, 340 damage, 340 DPS, so better is this the better one? no
with weapon 1, you will have 550 DPS ((300+200)*1.1)
with weapon 2, you will have 540 DPS ((340+200)*1)
And if you also take into consideration the fact that many skills use cooldown, so do not rely on attack speed, DPS is even less relevant,
What you are looking for usualy is more raw damage, unless you attack speed is really really too low and it doesnt feels good when playing
also if you are building a proc build that is stacking effects like bleed/poison/ orbs spawns or whatever, more Attack= more spaws/proc
First, the Hilary thing, typical selfcentered American punch line, there are like 7 billions people on the planet that are not American, you represent about 1/20 of the world population, not every person you talk to online is American, you do realize that right? RIGHT?
That being said, I stand by my opinion, which I'm entitled to by the way, DPS on weapon is missleading, that is a FACT, IT IS MISSLEADING, because of many things (you already know that apparently, like you stated, and somewhat still disagree with me). So rather than raging about having to pull out a calculator why don't you just wrapped your "20-years-gaming-no-one-cares" head around that and think for a second about what you were initially complaining about? The problematic situation here is, like you explained in the OP, you can't tell which weapon does the most DPS, like I explained the weapon DPS WILL NOT tell you that, so what will? a DPS dummy in town hub, or a dps counter in the UI, but not a dps weapon stat.
Sorry for being rude, but I'm not the butthurt sarcasm-friendly ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ one here.
