Do AI Daimyo ever assign new house lords?
I started a game as a retainer of the Imagawa clan and was recently made the lord of a castle.

However, although we have a huge part of Japan under our control, my Daimyo hasn't assigned any more lords or expanded the domains of the original castle lords by giving them more castles, he controls them all.

why tho

Yes, they don't if you play as officer of their clan. You can see other AI daimyos make houses, but your overlord only make house for you.

If you ask 'why', well, it is a way KOEI works- poor AI and not fixing it. And AIs don't build buildings if they are lack of resources(they don't buy woods or irons with gold).

Seriously?

That's nearly a game breaker for me.

The "AI not purchasing resources" I can let go, but player's Daimyo not giving land and creating new house lords?!?!

Edit: I put my game in "Demo Mode" from the main menu and now my Daimyo is assigning castle lords and expanding existing lords domains. Unfortunately you can't deactivate demo mode.

That's probably because the players have the tendency of request all the top officers in the clan to be their retainers, officers would otherwise become lords. I know I do. I'm a lord of Oda and I gathered all of his elites guys like Kazumasu, Hideyoshi, Toshiee ...etc... to be my personal retainers so it screw up Nobunaga's talents pool. Despite that, there are still 2 other Lords along side me. Nobumoto and Ittetsu.

Remember to become a lord you need ~3000 honor, it will takes a while for an AI officers to reach that ranking. In fact I just checked:

Looking at my game right now in its 11 years of the campaign:

Oda: 4 houses (including me).
Shimazu: 11 houses.
Mori: 7 houses.
Hojo: 14 houses.
Date: 6 houses.

These are the current powerhouse with most territories, other have like 2-3 house. So I'm pretty sure the AI do promote additional lord.

I believe I'm Gaming means that the lord of the clan you belong to doesn't promote new Houses, not all AI lords in general.

As I said, yes. AI daimyo of the clan which player belongs to doesn't make house for AI officers even those officers have more than 3000 honor.

LOL, great job KOEI.

Does that mean that those officers that have more than 3000 honor will become discontent? If so, this is a brutal flaw with officer play. Might as well always play a Daimyo then.

Well, to be fair, the goal of Officer play is to try and get to Daimyo play I imagine. I mean, you don't need too, but Koei probably assumed that was the intent - you wanted to start from the bottom and get to the top!

It's still a pretty bad oversight.

This has basically ruined the game for me.

I still play the game but with a lot less enthusiasm. I was convinced I was competing with the other houses of my clan for the Daimyo's approval, for territory, and for the coveted position of regent, but now it feels totally pointless.

Well, there's an annoying work-around; defect, the Daimyo will hand out new titles like candy, and then rejoin your clan you find the cards will be stacked against you.

Koei will hopefully get this fixed, eventually.

I hope so friend, i'm afraid of the possibility it may be a design decision because an AI Daimyo might not be able to give the player a decent lordship if the majority of his castles are already under other lords.

I can kind of see the sense in this decision if that were the case but I can't say it justifies just not allowing player's Daimyo to not assign house lords territory.

Why the game should work differently in demo mode'? Nonsense
GoGomon Nov 1, 2016 @ 11:33am
The sad part is that even if you go into demo mode it won't assign houses if non are left within the faction.
salatrin Nov 1, 2016 @ 12:14pm
Another thing i noticed too is the AI whether it be your own daimyo or opposing, never create alliances anymore either that arent scripted, in every scenario i have played there is usually only 2 forces that ever ally with one another that isnt scripted,(rise of heroes only oda and saito ever ally with one another for me, no one else, EVER, also 1586 scenario, after all the original alliances dissolve, only Toku and Hideyoshi will ally, no one else, EVER) not sure if that changes when your daimyo yet as ive yet to play as one.

That plus the original topic issue is the 2 things that really ruin this game for me.
