Cant get honnoji to start

As much as I love playing as Nobunaga, I can never get this event to trigger. Ill start in the Like a Dream start date. It will have me conquer the Takeda, which i do. But then after that, nothing happens. Am I doing something wrong?



UPDATE: upon checking the other game, Nobunaga's Ambition: Sphere of Influence, I have discovered that the event does not work like in the other one. for some reason, hideyoshi's event doesnt trigger at the same time as the event where you have to conquer the Takeda. in the "first" game (base version? dunno what to call the other one), both trigger, allowing you to get the honnouji event. it will force you to play as Hideyoshi. but, it will work. the other thing is, in this game, the Honnouji event is really boring. no movie for it, only a bit of dialogue, unlike the other one. so this is just so everyone that has the same issue as me to know!

that doesnt make sense then. cause how else are you supposed to continue gameplay as hideyoshi. everywhere else says otherwise but it just isnt working for me

afaik, you can trigger as anyone but nobunaga himself because this game prevents the player character from dying at all costs, similarly you cant trigger some other events as the mail character

dang yea, i just tried it out as hideyoshi and it worked but tried again as nobunaga and it didnt work. dang this really sucks cause now i really cant do a full beginning to end game historically from birth of nobunaga

well if you want to follow nobunaga from beginning to end... youd die in 1582 and get a game over so gg

i tried to avoid his death for so long, ever since this game came out haha. i really like nobunaga but because i wanted to see the honnouji event, i decided now was the time. but dang this sucks that i cant play as nobunaga to get the event to work. however, i did get something new to pop up, it was a generic retainer with a red speech bubble. never got that before, wonder if it means something cause nothing happens after i read the text

I believe thanks to officer play events that require a change in Daimyo cannot be triggered because you would just continue the game as a retried officer least that is my theory, of course this does leave me to ask why couldn't they let you pick which of Nobunaga's sons to be or Mitsuhide, Katsuie or Hideyoshi if you decided you wanted to complete Honnoji.

yea thats what i was thinking as well, gonna reinstall the other one to see if it works there

I just remembered something Hideyoshi is given a quest line to fight the Mori where you will be tasked with attacking a castle with Kanbei eventually Nobunaga will be killed at Honnoji, in addition if you play as Mitsuhide he has the option of attacking Nobunaga or staying as an office in the Oda.

yup exactly, they are given those quest but if you play as Nobunaga himself, you dont get either of those options therefore, you arent able to get the Honnoji event to happen
