What am I supposed to be doing?
Only just started and there is SUCH limited time per day.. I have no direction.

I assume I am supposed to pick 3 or 4 events to gain the skills I want and keep doing that..but for how long? Is this just a "tutorial/building" phase that will end or?

Gain some skills at combat and throwing as well as lockpicking. Talk to everyone. Visit the library and read the book. Go upstairs in the library and there is a short little quest you can start working on right away if you listen. Go to the school store and meet Gregor. Earn some money in the kitchen. There is a door in the store to explore. Visit the infirmary and be sure to search around a bit. Think of places people might lose change so you can get some money. Take notes in class as you will need the info for exams. You will need to build up your skills and pocketbook in the early days before you begin some of the tougher quests. There will be plenty to do. Once you learn how to sneak around, you can even go out after curfew....and, after curfew, Terk never goes down to the practice rooms.

All that being said, the game does take a few days of game time before things start to rev up. The idea is for you to get as much skill and knowledge as you can so you are ready to meet challenges. It is a true RPG where learning about and interacting with the world of the game is an important part of play. I do understand your situation. Trust me. There is plenty to do if you learn how to look and listen.

It's up to you.
Pay attention to the class dialog and pick some skills and activities that fit your character concept. It is a RPG after all.
Go from there.

Whatever you do, from what I hear, not failing the first test and choosing Magic as elective class will make life much, much easier for you later on.

- Take some notes on what is talked about in class. There are tests and the teacher is tricky about them.

- Go to the practice room and listen at the door. If Shawn hears voices, go in and chat with the class members. If not, go based off the topic of the class and focus on that skill. It gives you a good idea on what you need to progress.

- Pay attention to your journal as it will list off goals. Early on you want to get cleaned up in the dormitory bathroom, then as soon as you can purchase a full school uniform (Vest, pants, tie. I think the shirt is optional?)

- You will automatically go to dinner after a certain point so do not feel like you need to stress to go there at 5PM. This will give you more time to do stuff after class.

- Go to bed by 12PM at the latest if you want to avoid the "tired" status the next day. You automatically go to bed at 1PM anyways so it's not like you have much of a benefit staying up so late.

Thanks all. I have no clue what build I need since I don’t even know where the game goes after the school early parts or what you earn from each practice event. Just gonna wing it and probably have to do another playthrough after.

I don't think you can really speak of a build in this game, just raise whatever stat you imagine to be useful, you get to raise all of them rather high, and you can be a jack of all trades to a certain extent. Elective classes make a bigger difference, I think, and like I suggested, Magic seems to be a pretty strong and useful one (unfortunately I didn't take it), but if you don't flunk the first test, you can choose two elective classes out of three, I think.

There's quite a lof of enemies later in the game, so you'll probably want to raise your combat stats a bit, but they also get raised automatically when you fight. Alternatively, you could try to avoid combat and sneak past most opponents, if you're really patient, since sneaking is very slow. But I think you can be good at combat, sneaking AND lock picking, so don't worry too much about it.
