will we ever get a "Warhammer 30k" video game?
30k as in the era where the emperor wasn't on the golden throne and fought alongside his Space Marines, I would like to see a Dawn of war styled 30k game where you could lead old chapters like the emperor's children and the Luna wolves before they fell to heresy.

I would certainly put money toward founding this.

Chances are sooner or later you will see it, but personally i don't see the point. 30k Marines are no less boring than 40k marines, and i don't see where there would be a big chance between commanding a bunch of 40k Ultrasmurfs and a bunch of 30k Luna wolves. At the end of the day its just space marines.

Because you haven't learned the lesson with 40k kickstarters and early access titles yet?

No, because 30k era is just a lore background with no major faction variety, its just LSM and Horus.

Actually, the Eldar and Chaos still count as major factions, you could also have the Orks in too, that would make for at least three major factions. Then again, 40k never really had much major factions anyways besides the imperium and chaos, every other faction is garbage like the Tau.

Eldar aren't even known at that time and chaos doesn't exist on 40k scale.
Orks also aren't anywhere near.
Introducing any of them in 30k is lore breaking, because these races are completely unknown to imperium.

You tried too hard, thats so obviously a baited trap nobody took it, you needed a longer trail of crumbs before just dropping the bait, and 40k and factions are too general, you needed a named faction that's really popular and then you woulda had a major flame war too look at.

well i stand corrected, but he had 2 cups of coffee i didn't know about

in his defence 1989-1996 in white dwarf and in the first codex, Slannesh was busy ruining the Eldar during the Horus Heresy, so he is correctish.

Isn't there a Horus Heresy game (about betrayal at Calth I think) somewhere? I'm sure there was at least one. Or is it not out yet? I don't think anything before that could work, as very little is known about what came before the crusade that lead to "Horus Heresy". And it wasn't very interesting either, mostly just space marines dominating civilians and eradicating those that didn't agree with Emperor's vision.

your correct, I think Horus heresy is an app game or 2, and yeah pre 40k lore is spotty pre 2010, when they decided to prequel 40k, they started mass lore writing thats just catching up to current Tabletop. That means new Lore you may not be up on, it also means spotty facts from the past may have changed.

There's three. There's the Calth one, there's a version of Talisman that takes place in the Horus Heresy, and there's a card game that just came out that focuses on the Horus Heresy. All mobile.

Actually if I remember right the Calth one you guys are talking about can be on VR as well as PC
Edit: however I'd honestly be more interested in see an alternate universe take on the 40k universe where a lot of the loyal and traitor chapters swap.

That would make better sense for GW and its 30k Universe, Leaping ahead into VR, Yes current platform games are Required and help build the online player base, But 40k came first not 30k. So they are just getting together a larger written history base to make the Lore.If they leap forward while working on the lore of the past, they might create a fan base hungry for the books, possibly the hobby, but surely the online games, but most fans would morph into true fans while being part of the creation and the experience, dawn of war, you might get a Flame war from me using as an example, BUT, a large dedicated player/ fan base and I can tell you that me quoting 50% of them are not into the tabletop game, but became diehard 40k guys, because of DOW.

If games workshop really buyes into 30k as an online BRANDED product and I mean gets a GW division fully involved, build it, own it control it, there is no real compition world wide, star trek and star wars tried but didn't last, GW could make a FORTUNE TO RIVAL BLIZZARDS, unlike star wars, your not gonna piss off vets like me, the 30k history had so little written about it for more than 20 years, any changes are minimal except for what happened from the point of the assualt of earth by Horus. GW can make the Prequal work, and smoothly tie it into 40k and do it all with the fans, I mean take a 12 year old kid, draw them into 30k now, AND then as thier brain fills up on 30k lore and gaming expierences online that they participate in, they will discover 30k leads to 40k.

Nobody has the 30+ years of copyrighted material that GW has, there is very little compitition in scifi online games that GW couldn't brush aside, while i could write an entire history on fantasy gaming, BLIZZARD stole GW's thunder with World of warcraft, and made billions, I'm not saying GW needs to strike while the Iron is hot, because nobody else is holding the Iron, Scifi games are super expensive to create and maintain, there have been spectacular failures that left people who had mansions in silicon valley living in boxes along railroad tracks. The super downsizing of the gaming industries studios payrolls, certainly have left a few looking for long term jobs, I'm sure GW could pick up a large competent staff. dang gotta go to work, I'm done lol, that was damn good coffee, maybe I better drink more after work and mow the lawn.

start a petition to ask Epic Studios to take on this venture and i assure you will get quality....what they did with the gears of war series in nothing less but impressive...imagine Tyranids in place of those giant monsters and you know what i'm talking about.

not to mention the titan like playable vehicle...get that in the multiplayer and you got a hit

30k will only make sense as a story driven singleplayer. as for multiplayer/mmo kinda lacks variety in races...unless you make it 35k lol

Most likely not. most developers can´t even handle 40k, what are they supposed to do with 30k? How will they deal with primarchs, the emperor...no mate. Best case scenario is a Telltale Series about the Horus Heresy, but even this series would have like 20 parts.
