How is the Meltagun so bad?
The meltagun is the strongest infantry based ranged weapon that the Imerium of Man has at it's disposal. So why does it feel like the weakest gun in this game? The meltagun is supposed to be able to destroy a tank in a couple of shots, and kill anything else just as easily, so why does this thing feel like a squirt gun?

This thing objectivly has a lower dps than the bolter with a laughable range. It doesn't even do damage to tanks effectivly, it's main purpose is to damage tanks and it can't even do that right. It shouldn't take longer to kill a tank at point blank range with a meltagun than it does to kill one with a Lascannon a kilometer away.

I understand balance, and I know making it exactly as it's intended to be used from the tabletop is unbalanced, but at it's current 'strength', a space marine would have better chances to kill his opponents by spitting on them.

It doesnt even function properly, its not an continuous beam, but the biggest problem is that it doesnt do any dmg, it just applies dot, thus its pretty crap against infantry.

It does do a tiny direct damage but its pretty much unnoticable without the heat ailment that's pretty much why i instantly switch to my sidearm if I'm fighting infantry cause I'm better off using that and my knife than something that's more intended to be used on Vehicles. This isn't Space Marines where the Melta Gun was that games equilivant of a shotgun!

The meltagun from Space Marine was also done wrong, it's supposed to be a semi auto weapon, a beam of cohesive fuision energy. Also with it being an assault weapon it also shouldn't have a charge up time, just an instant blast of energy.

It also doesn't 'get hot' like a plasma gun does, so it also should have an overheat mechanic. I'm just nit picking at this point. so I'll stop here for now

wtf does it pull up it a beam weapon. every other weapon in the game doesnt do that

They would have had to of implemented them in some way that doesnt fit the lore, or Eldar would be running around with perma beams 1 shotting everything b/c theirs is VASTLY superior to garbage Imperium weaponry.

Meltas and heavy weapons etc, make me sad theres no way to implement a limit on certain weapons on the battlefield (that players will like). Thats the main reason you dont see both everyone in 40k use meltas, they are hard to make and of very limited use since it only hits one target.

I never really got "fusion beam" (emphasis on beam) from the description of the melta or the Eldar fusion gun, but I also think its open to interpretation, like most elements of 40k. I think a pulsed emission with a very low ROF would keep meltas in their tank\fortification hunting place and make them something you could use to deal with one person on their own with, but would limit its ability to mass kill folk.

I actually like taking a fusion pistol on my striking scorpions. I find I can consistently kill or finish off infantry with it if I'm within range. Same with fire dragons.

Once you get Melta Gun mastery in the AP tree you can make tons of loadouts I have all the masterys for my Chaos character and i can make a bunch of loadouts whenever i wish.

The whole fusion pistol thing might not even happen cause the Fire Dragons never weird them only the Harlequins do.
Edit: and the Infernus Pistols from what I'm seeing are wielded by Inquisitors of the Ordo Herecticus and the Sisters of Battle and the varient the Blood Angels has is held by someone named Dante

why does it suck? because the Ork and Eldar players screamed and cried foul that our Anti Tank was too strong and they nurfed the ever living ♥♥♥♥ outta it and haven't bothered to fix it. mean while orks guns are now extremely accurate and fast shooting (like wtf) and the eldar are as op as ever and continue to run people over like nothing while our AT is unable to do the damage nessessary to kill it.

The whole thing with their vehicles is being addressed Khan give the developers time to narrow it down as they just did a patch where they touched their vehicles and will continue to do so.

Right? I ran into a Howling Banshee with a fusion pistol and was like "WHAT?! NOOOOO NOT CANON!" for a bit but then calmed down XD

Newer Blood Angel codexes have Infernus Pistols as options for Assault Marines (I think? Id have to check and i cant remember for the life of me where i put my codex), Death Company, Sanguinary Guard, and alot of HQ choices, and I dont really see why Blood Angels should get to keep all the melty fun, lol. But yeah give us Blood Angels infernus pistols and let the others seethe with jealousy :D

Well the developers might make specific weapons per army in a later patch one day cause my Space Wolf can't use the Apothecary weapon in the store because of lore wise Wolf Priests serve two roles as Apothecary and Chaplain which really bugs me.
