"Steam Deck Verified" -- Will not launch on Linux.
Not sure what I'm doing wrong here, but I can't get it to launch on Linux. Proton-CachyOS, Proton-Hotfix both failed. It won't even bring up the ubisoft connect launcher. Anyone else get lucky?

Not lucky yet, trying different Protons as you are (I'm on CachyOS as well), so far no luck. Will reply back if I get it to launch.
Proton Experimental is the only way I got it to actually launch
Same here, Linux Mint, still haven't found a way to launch it successfully. Tried both experimental and hotfix. Running down the list of the others.
same here on arch and game wont launch, ill let you know if i get it to work
It does launch on Proton Experimental (on Cachyos) but it keeps crashing after a few minutes for me.
im on CachyOS when I click play nothing happens, tried all the diffrent protons and have tried veriffying the game files, no luck so far
edit: what fixed it for me was reinstalling the game.
yup on cachyos not even running on proton experimental(for some people that worked)

Yeah same here. Runs well but crashes every few minutes. Running on Bazzite w/ 9070 XT, 9850x3d.
I managed to make it run consistently on Cachyos with AMD 9070 XT

using `Proton experimental`

If you press Play and Steam acts like the game is running but nothing ever appears (no window, no error, Stop button just sits there), the problem is likely a corrupted Ubisoft Connect browser cache inside the game's Proton prefix. Ubisoft Connect starts, hangs before it even tries to log in, and the game exe never launches.

you can just delete the cache instead:

1. Fully close the game in Steam
2. Delete (or rename) this folder:

<your steam library>/steamapps/compatdata/3751950/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Local/Ubisoft Game Launcher/cache/http2

On Steam Deck / default install that's:

~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/3751950/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Local/Ubisoft Game Launcher/cache/http2

3. Launch the game normally.

I wanted to come back to my post to describe what I found. I did get this working now on Linux Mint. The issue was with the Ubisoft Connect launcher. The launcher is a 32-bit program however Ubuntu doesn't have 32-bit Vulkan support natively. After installing/enabling it the game was able to successfully launch using Proton Experimental.
None of the fixes listed here worked for me on CachyOS. Ubisoft Connect still refuses to launch, no matter what options I use, can't even get it to launch via Wine.

For what it’s worth I fixed the crashes I was getting disabling HDR.
Linux Mint 22.3
AMD Ryzen 7 5700X3D RAM: 32 GB
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090
Proton Experimental

Boot into the game fine, but the stuttering is awful. 120 FPS on the counter but must be constantly dropping. Unplayable.
Same issue on Ubuntu 26 using proton experimental.

In my case, the game itself seems to be launched correctly by steam/proton. The logs show the game executable file so steam is at least trying to start the game properly.

The problem seems to happen after that, when ubisoft connect gets involved. Ubisoft connect starts, but the handoff back to the actual game appears to fail. The logs repeatedly show errors like:
System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception: Invalid window handle

So in my case the issue seems to be ubisoft connect failing inside proton, not the game itself. I also tried the proton experimental bleeding-edge branch but it does not work either.

This seems related to the ubisoft bug report here:
https://www.ubisoft.com/en-us/game/assassins-creed/black-flag-resynced/bug-reporter/issues/ACBFR-143
Works fine for me in stable
