I guess NES Ninja Gaiden 1 set the bar too high for me to see this problem. :steammocking:

Yeah I'm trying not to quit right now. In Kastski Palace. Platforming there is pure cancer. And I thought Stormheim was hard...

Is the platforming just as hard on casual?

Dunno. Why wouldn’t it be? I think casual mode only affects exp and gold you keep after dying.

Same thing, the difference is that you have saves inside the dungeons, so you don't lose all your progress.

Kastka Palace definelly is the worst.

The Infinite Jumps code is a definite lifesaver for all that stuff. Did it without on my first playthrough, and never looked back.

and having only one jump height. Hello dev!!!! Fix it! Stop being lazy. I can tell you rushed to get this game finished.

I'm definitely not a fan of it. It's functional, but it's not particularly fun. Infernax is weird in that the controls are smooth (not full of intentional or unintentional delays like in the neo-retro Bloodstained games or the actual original NES games), but the platforming is still very binary and a little bit clunky. Not exactly asking for Hollow Knight here, but it could use a little bit of refinement.

But it doesn't need changes for this game. It's just something I'd take into consideration for Infernax 2 or whatever their next game in this vein will be. Like I said, the platforming here is functional... just not very fun.

like said here, I did much the same on my subsequent playthroughs and if I play with all the other secret codes, I might use them again sometimes and go on casual without any regrets, the game's platforming is just inexcusable imo, it unapologetically only exists to waste time and nothing else, for the most part with prickly enemies/obstacles positioned in a way of throwing you into water/pits, or a few pixel perfect chandelier jumps, just some textbook cheap deaths in video games.

I think Casual = Normal and Classic = Hard, in terms of difficulties, because Casual does make it less painful with falling only taking a big chunk of your health instead of being an instakill, or having saves inside of the castles, but it doesn't make the game easier, like one thing that sucks about the game is how you don't have saves to shorten backtracking to certain places, like where the cultists are camped, or at Gregor's cathedral, etc.
It's not a big ask, but it would've been nice to have such save locations in these other key locations.

I think that you're right with your complaints, but you also have to keep in mind that part of the game was designed to be... frustrating like that.

When I started playing I already knew that I would die a lot, so I played with peace of mind, but I wasn't expecting that most of my deaths was due platforming! Good thing that I made the good run first and earned the jetpack early, I used it without regrets.

Also another thing to take in consideration is that the game is very short, so difficult like that is to add more playtime to the game. I think that the easy mode have a perfect balance, being able to save inside the dungeons changes everything, they didn't even had to give us a health refill, just being able to save is ok.

I know it's pretty short, but I don't really mind that, not every single indie game has to be a certain long length, or have a lot of replayable value. For me, I would rather however short the game's length is spent making the most out of it instead of try to lengthen it like this, like Dust an Elysian Tail did it for example, or Owlboy.

Yeah. Must be the case here, also. Thought the platforming and what passes for puzzles were pretty easy.

Nothing like Ninja Gaiden, Mega Man, Castlevania or any number of 8 or 16 bit games.
