I mean, Dante's Inferno ( not on Steam ) might share some themes but...
Uhh, I'll interpet this as "recent Metroidvania sidescroller that looks it's from the NES era". So, maybe the Blaster Master Zero trilogy. Or the retro Bloodstained games.
Other than that, Blasphemous is obviously quite similar. Then there's the other recent Metroidvanias like Hollow Knight, Ender Lillies, etc...
Edit: also something similar (metroid vania) but perhaps not would be Dark light, Steel Assault , F.I.S.T.: Forged In Shadow Torch, Death's Gambit, Blade assaukt, Panzer Paladin, Legend of Tianding, katana zero, Dust: an elysian tail, mark of the ninja etc. just some recommendations
