regarding DLC content

If I only have the basic game but I join someone else's world who has rifts and tower defense DLC. Do I participate in the rifts as well or would I need the same DLCs just to join them?

If a player has rouge-Rift and or the Furfolk-Star Stone Defense dlc's, you can join that players game and participate in them. you will not be able to use armor, weapons, or mounts that can be crafted, bought or dropped for the Bosses, it will say license missing, so give it to the player hosting the game.
