Having Shell Troubles.

I can not figure out where the Moss Shell Turtles are. I'v killed at least 100 sand shells, and only 2 of the moss type...is there something i am missing??

Yeah, the devs need to fix the spawn rate balance on this (and probably for some other things too).

It's incredibly boring, annoying, and I might even go as far as to say burdensome, running around hoping to find Moss Shells only to find a bunch more Sand Shells. Grinding can be okay, and I think the grinding in this game for resources is handled fairly well because the reward is pretty consistent and worth it, BUT when you have to grind AND the thing you need is eluding you, it really puts a damper on the fun.

If it helps though, I think I noticed that the Moss Shells are always standing and walking around, even if you haven't gotten close to them, whereas the Sand Shells always sit curled up until you approach them. So you can spot Moss Shells easier and not have to get close to determine what kind it is. But I could very well be wrong about Moss Shells walking around like that. I just noticed it happen that way once and I didn't want to waste my limited gaming time running around for an hour+ just to further confirm it. After finding only 2, I gave up on finding the Moss Shells for the sake of actually getting back to having fun with the rest of the game.

I do know for a fact though that they spawn on the surface, just like Sand Shells. For a while, I wondered if they spawned underground only or something, but none spawn down there.

EDIT:

Well, I found out that the Moss Shell spawned in the same place for me every time the map was reloaded. So I just killed him, traveled to another map, then immediately traveled back and killed him again in the same spot and repeated until finished. Then I realized events don't give you anything though... right? ..... I got no xp upon completion. Perhaps the rewards aren't fully implemented yet. I don't know.

Also, yeah confirmed, Moss Shells are actively running around, so you can spot them easily from standing on a high place and looking around for movement. Sand Shells always stay curled up on the ground until you get close, so you'll know it's not a Sand Shell that way.

In the end though, no reward afaik, just a waste of time.

I think the reward for the enemy events (kill so many turtles, parrots, bones, etc) is their respective trophies as enemy drops. As far as I can tell there are no chests or other items associated with those events.

Also regarding the Moss Shell vs Sand Shell spawn problem you may be experiencing a bug and should report it. I think there is a link on the bug reporting sub forum where you can do that. When I get the event I get a pretty even spread of both Moss and Sand Shell turtles. But I have had an issue with the snowstorm event where it says to destroy 3 crystals and only 2 spawn so I think they may still be working out some kinks in the events.
