Is arcane compass bugged ?

I just crafted an arcane compass just so I could find the portals on large maps more easily.
The compass points north, but when I use it nothing happens... It still points north. I am on sure what is supposed to happen. I see no other pointers, no pillars, no see through portals to locate them. It uses the mana, so it uses it properly, but the function is missing...

Hi Doddger,
the compass only shows you the location of locked portals. Are you sure you still have a locked portal on that island?

I am stupid... there were no portals on that map I was standing on... the compass works fine :D

Arcane Compass can be crafted from a Workbench II or higher :)

hmm I have this same problem but when I used it I was on the island that precedes the boss.The map shows that there is 1 portal on the island And the transparent line leading to the boss.Yet my compass refuses to show me where.There is even an area in a dungeon that looks like a portal should be there but still no portal.

I am also having this exact issue. It worked fine to show the boss portal for the first boss, but not the second one.

If you're circled by a color when you right click on the compass, but don't see a portal, it's either above or below you. I usually run around on the surface till the sparkles say where the portal is and then dig straight down. But boss portals are on the surface and are big strange looking structures.

No, I'm aware of that, but the problem is that there is 0/1 portals, but no color whatsoever when using the arcane compass. I found a structure of ruinstone that looks like it should have the boss portal but does not.

Since I don't know where you're looking or what you're looking at, the boss portals are on Garnet Peaks, Joren's Outpost, and Farpoint. I don't know why you aren't getting any color from the compass if there's an unactivated portal. Have you done the task that gets you the stone to open the portal? The portal may not appear before that, but I don't know.

Joren's Outpost has a structure of Ruinstone blocks that appear to be much like the Garnet Peaks structure, but missing the portal portion of it. I completed the quest to get the portal key, but there was nowhere to put it.

I looked online and several people have had the problem of there being no second boss portal. They fixed it by leaving joren's outpost (teleport home) and then refresh that universe. Of course that's a pain because you'll lose all the bridges and stairs and anything you built outside of your home world and bought islands.

Yeah, ultimately that's what I did too. Fortunately my home island was set to one of the islands that I bought.
